As Calamity’s newest resident, Everly Christian thought life in small-town Montana would be dull and tame—and she needs a little mundane after the last few chaotic years. But one night, boredom drives her to the local bar, where she finds herself sitting beside a handsome and mysterious artist.
The man is anything but dull and tame, especially in the bedroom, and when she steps out of his shower and overhears his conversation, life gets interesting again.
Reese Huxley needs a wife.
And why shouldn’t Everly be the bride?
She’s got her reasons for agreeing to the hasty nuptials—reasons she’s keeping to herself. As long as she can stop herself from falling in love with her husband, she’ll make it out of this sham marriage in one piece. But Everly has a weakness for wayward men, and the more Hux pushes her away, the more she realizes this bluff is anything but a lie.

OVERALL REVIEW & RATING: 5 STARS
Since April 2020, when I first discovered Devney Perry’s wizardry, I’ve experienced about 13 or so of her stories and not one single time have I been even close to disappointed. Do with that little tidbit what you will :)
PERFORMANCE REVIEW & RATING: 5 STARS
Aiden Snow was perfect as Reese Huxley and Vanessa Edwin was ridiculously perfect with her narration of Everly Christian! They made an incredible team. They brought this story to life and managed to catapult this already incredible storyline to the next level with their voices! WELL DONE!
STORY REVIEW & RATING: 4.8 STARS
This series is old enough now that I feel I can say what I need to say in my review without worrying about spoiler tags so here goes. Everly & Hux were two ‘lost’ souls in their own right who fit perfectly for each other. They provided the exact ‘shelter’ the other needed to help them overcome and move thru the scars of their pasts. Where Hux was hard and jagged with sharp edges, Everyly was soft and smooth, like a balm to his soul. Everly needed to feel protected and wanted and that’s exactly what Hux provided for her, even when neither of them realized it.
This story is what I would call emotionally driven and it was also understated in its passion and romance. It was absolutely perfect for the characters that Devney created as Hux & Everly.
I loved everything about this story except this tiny minor thing not worth explaining but that’s why it says 4.8 stars LOL

Everly followed her best friend Lucy (heroine of book 1) to Calamity Montana. Feeling a little aimless and not sure what she wants to do with her life, she just starts settling into Calamity when she has one night of fun with Reese Huxley. Besides his art, Hux only focus is trying to get custody of his 16-year old daughter Savannah. Because of his ex, Hux didn’t even know about his daughter right away, and since he’s an ex-con and has a record, things are complicated for him to gain custody. After one night with Everly turns into a friends-with-benefits situation, Everly is around the day Hux’s lawyer jokes he might have a better chance of gaining custody if he remarried. Hux can’t believe when Everly says she’ll marry him to help out.
I love a marriage of convenience romance and this one was so good. Seeing Hux and Everly start to get to know one another after being married was fun. I really liked Hux’s relationship with his daughter Savannah and trying to be there for her. Loved how he is an artist, he sells his pieces and has a local gallery after learning art and taking classes in prison. I loved Everly and how much she wants to help Hux and Savannah. Hux did drive me bonkers at the end when he doubts Everly and doesn’t believe her. But otherwise I really enjoyed this story!
