Publisher's summary

As the owner of Miracle Books, Nora Pennington figures all the wet weather this spring is at least good for business. The local inns are packed with stranded travelers, and among them Nora finds both new customers and a new friend, the 60-something Sheldon, who starts helping out at the store.

Since a little rain never hurt anyone, Nora rides her bike over to the flea market one sodden day and buys a bowl from Danny, a Cherokee potter. It’ll make a great present for Nora’s EMT boyfriend, but the next day, a little rain turns into a lot of rain, and the Miracle River overflows its banks. Amid the wreckage of a collapsed footbridge, a body lies within the churning water.

Nora and the sheriff both doubt the ruling of accidental drowning, and Nora decides it’s time for the Secret, Book, and Scone Society to spring into action. When another body turns up, it becomes clearer that Danny’s death can’t be blamed on a natural disaster. A crucial clue may lie within the stone walls of the Inn of Mist and Roses: a diary, over a century old and spattered with candle wax, that leads Nora and her friends through a maze of intrigue - and onto the trail of a murderer....

Fun

Enjoyed my 3rd Nora adventure. She helps to solve the mysteries through subtle means, not as a true female sleuth. I love her kind spirit and her band of misfit friends. I will continue on with this series when I need a fun, relaxing listen.

Wonderful light reading

The stories of the relationships enhance the mysteries. Making this a great enjoyable read without requiring me to be a genius

ANOTHER GREAT READ FROM ELLERY ADAMS

THIS SERIES/BOOK IS SO GOOD, FILLED WITH INTELLIGENT, FLAWED, BUT WONDERFUL CHARACTERS AND INTERESTING PLOTS. I LONG FOR A GROUP OF FRIENDS LIKE NORA, JUNE, ESTELLA, AND HESTER, SHARING JOYS AND SORROWS, NEW AND OLD; NOT TO MENTION ADVENTURES. I LOVE THE DEVELOPING ROMANTIC RELATIONSHIPS OF NORA AND JED, ESTELLA AND JACK, HESTER AND JASPER, IN THE BACKGROUND. THIS BOOK ADDRESSED BIASES OF DIFFERENT KINDS, INCLUDING DISABILITY, RACISM, AND POSSIBLY MISOGYNY (OR MAYBE JUST PLAIN OLD NASTINESS) WITHOUT DROWNING IN THEM. IT IS A STORY OF HOW HISTORY IMPACTS THE FUTURE; OF HOW KINDNESS CHANGES LIVES; AND OF HOW IMPORTANT HOPE IS TO EVERYONE. HOPEFULLY, I HAVEN'T OVERANALYZED IT BECAUSE IT IS A COZY, BUT MAYBE WITH A LITTLE MORE DEPTH THAN SOME. READ IT. ENJOY IT. I CANNOT WAIT FOR THE NEXT ONE.

I hope there will be more books in this series.

I really enjoyed this series. I liked getting to know these women. All of the ladies of the secret book and scone society are women with secrets and flaws. I also have secrets and flaws and for me, it made them seem like real people. I would want to join their group if I was asked.

Secret Book & Scone Society

This is the 3rd book in this series. In this series 2 women buy an Inn in Miracle Springs and have someone staying with them who comes into Nora's bookshop and helps her out. Nora goes to the flea market to buy things to sell in her shop and her things get damaged or broken when she has an accident on her bike. When she goes back to see if she can get a damaged bowl fixed the artist is not there and then she discovers his body in the river on the way home. How Nora and her friends help the sheriff discover the culprit is a great story. I have really enjoyed this series and this book is another great addition to the series. Highly recommend this book and the series.

Book of Candelight

I loved this particular one because it began to bring the people in the small town a little closer together without being over mushy I particularly liked the way they were introduced into Series. I liked the questions that were asked at the end of the story. I will continue to ready the next book. I hope that I do not have to wait to long. Thank you and awaiting next installment

Good but not great

If you have made it this far in the series... Finish it out!! Reader is excellent but one of the side mysteries is obviously easy to figure out...though the main mystery was not easily figured out!! I would read another just because the characters are endearingly layered!! Leaves room for another book but it was good!!
