Publisher's summary

Jeff Grady had an amazing job. Little did he know, it would soon have him looking after thousands of uploaded minds.

Earth is one step away from a nuclear war, and Paradigm Alpha’s solution to saving what they can of humanity is to upload their brains to The Doomsday System. But while most of the minds are being stored while they sleep, Jeff doesn’t have that option. As the only one who can be uploaded digitally and remain awake, he will be kept alive, as it were, in order to help humanity 10,000 years from now. But thanks to time compression in the system, it will only be a thousand years for him.

Can Jeff mentally survive for that long? That's where The Doomsday System’s game might be able to help. However, there is one tiny little issue: The class the AIs gave him, Battlemage, which sounded so awesome at the time, is broken. He is a Battlemage who can’t seem to use magic as a normal Battlemage.

Join Jeff as he explores this unknown world over the next thousand years.

absolutely loved it!

Great story line and great character development with just getting to the city and ending on a good note this series has every good potential to be great.

Mixed Bag

First let me start with the issues. The MC is... slow. And any time he jumps to a conclusion, he is wrong. But when things are explained to him he doesn't really apply it to future questions. "how do I view my stats?" "Think stats" "how do I view my spells?" "think spells" "how do I view my quests?" "think quests". you should be able to see what I mean. especially when it's in a short time frame. I know too many people that are like this though. He also gets emotional at the wrong times. someone threatens you with false charges and forces you into slavery? 'that sucks' Then some game feature that is in most games right after you are looking at your status screen? 'im so shocked' it happens with anger and depression too. the more benign things have a big reaction even if there's an obvious solution, then things he should react strongly too (there's not much) barely any reaction.

I did enjoy the world and system though. and it was a pretty nice light story. probably good for those getting in to the genre.

I will give the second book a chance if there is an improvement with the mc. otherwise it will have to wait until I get to it.

Dumb main character and horrible start. Spoiler’

One the story makes no sense and is annoying. The main character signs a contract becoming a slave and no joke half a second late “the anger vanishes” like what this is so stupid. The start is so fucking trash. That is so stupid. I’m so annoyed by the start that makes no sense is just stupid.
