About this listen

Using herbs to heal the body is an ancient practice, but in the 21st century, herbal medicine is also a worldwide industry - in 2019, consumers spent more than nine billion dollars on herbal supplements.

In The Business of Botanicals, Ann Armbrecht describes her journeys to herb collection sites, farms, and factories in North America, Europe, and India to tell the stories of the people and places behind the bottles of herbal products on grocery store shelves.

The Business of Botanicals is the first resource of its kind for listeners who wish to take the extra step in curating ethically sourced products. The author also calls on listeners to acknowledge that such conscious capitalism is only a beginning step along the challenging journey of addressing the social and ecological consequences of our ways of living.

Very insightful

This book opened my eyes and mind to the unknown not only to the plants but the movement of the world on a whole. Context is most important, we each have the answers within us if only we'll step back to discover and appreciate.

This is an amazing book!

This is an incredible book. Anyone using herbs in their life or who works in the botanical industry needs to read this book.
My family runs a small herbal farm in western North Carolina. We grow all of our own herbs for extraction. Farming and wildcrafting can be a difficult occupation. Ann’s book reminded me just how vital & important the work we are doing is. I think everyone who thinks of themselves as an herbalist should read this book!!!
Thank you Ann for such a wonderful book!

MUST LISTEN.

Eye-opening. Inspiring. Intellectual. Accessible. This book is a must read/listen for us all, especially those involved in any point of the supply chain with plants. Consumers are part of that supply chain!

Eye opening

This book is highly informative, and evokes a deep concern for the future of botanical buainess. My opinion is that it is a must read for anyone looking to enter the industry so they are aware of the impact they can have.. both positive or negative.
