About this listen

A treasure trove of nine locked room mysteries from USA Today best-selling and Agatha Award-winning author Gigi Pandian, all set in the Jaya Jones world.

Appearing here for the first time, novelette The Cambodian Curse:

When an ancient and supposedly cursed Cambodian sculpture disappears from an impenetrable museum, and the carving's owner is killed by an invisible assailant while a witness is a few feet away, historian Jaya Jones and her old nemesis Henry North team up to solve the baffling crime.

Additional stories include: "The Hindi Houdini", "The Haunted Room", "The Library Ghost of Tanglewood Inn", "The Curse of Cloud Castle", "Tempest in a Teapot", "A Dark and Stormy Light", "The Shadow of the River", plus the bonus novella Fool's Gold.

The Cambodian Curse and Other Stories includes an introduction from New York Times best-selling author Laurie R. King addressing why we love locked rooms, and a foreword from impossible crime mystery historian Douglas G. Greene, teasing out the tradition of John Dickson Carr that Pandian is following.

This collection is filled with ingenious stories of magic, mystery, and history.

This is one of my favorite Gigi Pandian books and excellently narrated! I loved the explanations about what constitutes a closed room mystery.

This was a busy week, so this was a great book to read as snacks — one short story at a time. All of the great sidekicks showed up and were singled out to be showcased in each story.
I had read all of Gigi’s books, but somehow I had missed this one. It didn’t’ matter one bit, as these are stand alone stories.
Treat yourself to this one, whether you read or listen!

ALL THE LOVABLE SIDEKICKS STAR— WONDERFUL!!!

With the introductions, these short stories give the dedicated locked room devotee a fun compendium of the genre. Enjoy each on its own or do a marathon. ❤️

Short story puzzle bonanza

I enjoyed this collection of short stories that allowed us a peek into more of Jaya Jones background, along with her friends lives. The stories were fast paced with surprising depth for short stories, may be because I have read all the novels, but refreshing anyway. Looking forward to more books!

Delightful collection of short stories

I found this title absolutely perplexing. The first story, for example -- "The Cambodian Curse" -- has a death happening in a small private museum. The thing that my husband and I kept exchanging glances and comments about as we listened was the fact that the manner of death was NEVER MENTIONED until the very, very end. And said death was more or less impossible (I won't spoil the story, but there is literally no way the death could have happened as described without someone going "hey, hold on a second"). I've read and listened to a lot of locked room mysteries and know the rules -- and heaven help us, this title was absolutely painful to listen to.
