Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words can never hurt me....
In the third thrilling installment of this award-winning series from New York Times best seller Rebecca Cantrell, tortured genius Joe Tesla is on the trail of a sadistic serial killer who charms his victims into the bowels of the Manhattan subway system - and who holds the keys to Joe's crippling condition. Can Joe stop the murderous rampage of this silver-tongued killer, or will he become the next victim?

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes I would, in fact the entire trilogy. Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes and once I did. Read the book three times. Very good.Any additional comments?
I read this three times and still enjoy every minute of the story, narration, the genius of Joe, the greatness of Edison, each of the supporting characters (especially Viv), and the mystery of this and the previous two books. I will miss Joe and company as each character was pretty well built up and within the story itself there were many moments of humor as well as the necessary suspense, sadness and thrill. This is one of those mystery books that will last, so don't hesitate to start reading.I was gifted this book by the author and Audible.com for a fair and honest review which I have given. Thank you and best wishes on your new endeavors.

Would you listen to The Chemistry of Death again? Why?
Yes, so many twists and turns that you would follow them better the second time around. What other book might you compare The Chemistry of Death to and why?
Can't think of any.Which character – as performed by Jeffrey Kafer – was your favorite?
The killer. We can relate how he doesn't see himself as the perpetrator but that others use their "free will."Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
When the sister is willing to trade her life for Tesla's.Any additional comments?

I highly recommend this audiobook and the entire Joe Tesla series! Rebecca Cantrell is one of my favorite authors and this book is a great example of why. The Chemistry of Death takes off from the beginning in an adrenaline induced fashion and the story keeps you on the edge of your seat until the very end. I honestly had no idea who the killer was until the big reveal! Rebecca's writing style is very similar to two other authors that I enjoy, Steve Berry and James Rollins. But, I prefer these Joe Tesla books to any of the Cotton Malone or Sigma Force stories because Joe Tesla is so downright likable. Who can't help but enjoy reading about a tortured hero who, despite being poisoned and an extreme agoraphobic, is a master at solving crimes with his canine companion, Edison, and his part-time investigator, Vivian, in the bowels of New York City's subway? In The Chemistry of Death, Joe and Edison stumble upon a buried designer purse and a few tubes of Chanel lipstick in an old closeted room in the subway. Not relying on the police's theory of "a rat buried the purse," Joe hires Vivian to investigate. (I really love the slow developing platonic relationship between these two). It turns out that the purse belonged to a successful business woman who allegedly committed suicide 10 years ago by jumping in front of a subway train. After looking into the death more closely, Vivian doesn't believe for an instant that this strong career woman committed suicide. While still investigating this murder, another suicide under eerily similar circumstances is observed, and Joe and Vivian uncover a serial killer who has a pattern of killing women over a number of years. Unbeknownst to Joe, the killer is extremely unhappy that Joe uncovered his treasures and is now set upon killing him. The rest of the story is figuring out who the killer is, why does the serial killer want to harm Joe - really, and whether Joe and Vivian can prevent the serial killer from killing again.
Jeffrey Kafer narrated this Audible version of the story and he did an outstanding job like he did with the other books in the series. This is my favorite of the three Joe Tesla books, in part, because Jeffrey's narration made me feel like I was watching a movie rather than merely listening to a book. Please tell me this is not the conclusion of a trilogy and there are many more books to come in the Joe Tesla series!
Fantastic thriller set in NYC's subway tunnels!

This was my holiday read. I am so pleased I chose to listen to the audiobook.
I have read the early books in the series and have enjoyed them all.
This one I couldn't put it down. It is gripping and tense from the opening words to the last word.
Joe Tesla and Victoria Torres make a great team, and let's not forget Edison the Labrador who makes everyone love him.
This is great entertainment.
Narration is excellent.

Would you consider the audio edition of The Chemistry of Death to be better than the print version?
I have only heard the audio version but thought it was well done. I have not read the print version.Who was your favorite character and why?
I liked Joe Tesla even with his "flaws" it makes him a some what vulnerable hero which is a nice change from the indestructible super hero's that grace many books now a days. What does Jeffrey Kafer bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
I have listened to quite a few books with Jeffrey Kafer as of late and never get tired of hearing his voice. He does characters quite well and is never garbled or hard to understand. Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
The ending, I don't know if there were hints in the other Tesla books but I really didn't figure out who the bad guy was tell almost the very end. I will go back and listen to the first two Tesla books because I found this one so enjoyable.Any additional comments?
