About this listen

True love requires a little research and development in a funny, heart-racing romance by Sariah Wilson, the bestselling author of The Paid Bridesmaid.

How can Anna Ellis, a geeky, brilliant, and hopelessly smitten cosmetic chemist possibly win over Craig Kimball, the man of her dreams—who also happens to be her boss? The answer is Craig’s empathetic (and handsome) CEO half brother, Marco. The makeup mogul knows Craig for the ridiculously competitive rival he is. Whatever Marco has, Craig wants. That can be Anna, if she’s game to play.

All Anna and Marco have to do is pretend they’re falling in love and let the rumors begin. If the experiment in attraction works, a jealous Craig will swoop in and give Anna her happily ever after—if it weren’t for one hitch in the plan. There’s more to Marco than meets the eye. With every fake date, Anna’s feelings are starting to become dizzyingly real.

Blame it on chemistry. It’s unpredictable, exciting, and occasionally combustible. If Anna and Marco are really falling in love, who are they to argue with science?

Critic reviews

“With a very special appeal to fans of clean, wholesome, contemporary romantic comedy, The Chemistry of Love…is brilliantly narrated by the vocal storytelling skills of Em Eldridge.”Midwest Book Review

“Abundant pop culture references and nerdy quips only enhance…This is utterly adorable.”Publishers Weekly (starred review)

“In this adorable romantic comedy, the fake dating trope is taken to another level with banter and nerdy references Anna and Marco throw around. Adding to the fun, Anna’s grandparents and their pet birds will have readers in stitches. A fresh and fun romance from Wilson.”Library Journal

Really liked this book

love this author and really enjoyed this book. I didn't love the narrator though, it seemed like a robot sometimes.

Narration bomb

I wanted to like this one but...
I could not listen because the narrator cadence drove me crazy.
UPDATE
I did finish the book. I sped it up a bit and that helped enough for me to get interested in the story. So it's ok.

I love this author…but couldn’t finish

The story line gets lost with the robot sounding narration. So bad. I made it through 3 chapters and had to stop.

Loved the story but hard to listen to

The writing was fantastic and I was so engaged in the storyline that I actually finished the audiobook. But the narrator was not good at all. The narration was bland and boring.

Did NOT love the Narrator

The book was okay but pair it with the narrator and I struggled to listen to the entire book. The narrator’s tone was odd and her words were over-enunciated. Too bad.

Love this book

Love the story even though Anna could be quite exasperating at times! But loved her inspite of it. Loved Marco too. Funny , happy , love!

Another good listen from Sariah Wilson

I love Ms. Wilson’s audio books and was excited to download this new one. I am science-minded and married to a scientist so I thought the chemistry tie to the story was an interesting one. I gave 4-stars for Performance and for Overall due to the annoying “valley girl” inflections of the reader/performer and for a serious character name faux pas referenced from Ms. Wilson’s book, The Friend Zone. I blame the character name faux pas on the editor and the ARC readers. Ms. Wilson, herself, should have caught the faux pas when she proof-read her own writing. Auto-correct is NOT an author’s friend.

This will remain in my library and I do recommend this story.

Agree with Naomi

Narrator was awful. Voice rose on last word of every sentence. Very distracting. Story cute. Loved all the bird names and chemistry references

enjoyed the story

I thoroughly enjoyed this story it made me laugh and was fun. however I was very glad that I also had a physical copy of this to read or I never would have finished it. The person who read this was horrendous. It was so robotic in parts it was impossible to enjoy. I switched to just reading it myself and finished it in one day. great book. bad narration.

A disappointment

Sariah Wilson is one of my favorite authors and I usually read her books then listen to them multiple times. This one was listened to first and I was disappointed in the performance artist, but I endured the whole book. It was better in the last third but I wouldn’t recommend the audio version. I just think the performance artist was a bad match for this book. It also lacked the characteristic humor of her other books. The basis for the romance initially was Anna’s “love” for Craig but I never really bought this more than a crush and it made the remainder of the book predictable, and with the lack of humor that was actually funny, it disappointed. I still really like Sariah Wilson but I will not be listening to this one over and over.
