Great book!

The Child on Platform One by Gill Thompson pulled me in from the very beginning. The author wrote an emotional book that opened my eyes. The atrocities perpetrated to the Jewish people was unfathomable. The book wasn’t overly descriptive of the crimes, yet still left an impression on me. I appreciated how the author wove hope and survival into the book as well. Lucy Paterson performed the book quite well. She brought the characters to life with her voice and had fitting emotions. I’ll listen to more books by this author and narrator.

Love this book!

I love how the book keeps you guessing all the way to the end. The way it’s told from different points of views and how you’re completely submerged in the story.

The Child Review

This book was amazing. Sometimes I start listening to a book and can't get into it. This one touched me from the start. The author is new to me- I will certainly get more books from her. And the stellar reading by Lucy Peterson was so good. Sometimes I can guess how the ending might turn out from a book, but not this. Well done. Thank you. The work of the Friends in rescuing Czech children and the miracle of Sir Winton's amazing involvement is well known to me and I'd wondered about the lives of those children affected later on. I've studied the Theresienstadt stories in depth. Things I loved about the book- I could well imagine the strained marriage of a raped girl at that time - of convenience to a suitable husband. I loved how this turned into real love. Also Pamela and Hugh's relationship- Hugh's character made me really love him. What a compassionate man! The rescue at the end was dramatic! Very well done.

Good Storytelling

Everything you expect in a ww2 novella with excellent storytelling and unexpected plot turns! This tells the story of several people who through terrible circumstances end up intertwined. The narration was great as well!

Wonderful Historical Story.

This is a tender and sweet story during WW11. The characters feel so real and you can't help but fall in love with them.

Great War novel

The story was great, but I found myself a little bored towards the end. The narrator was a bit boring like she couldn't wait to get it done.
