About this listen

FNH Audio presents an unabridged reading of H.P. Lovecraft's The Colour Out of Space.

A surveyor from Boston is practising his skills in preparation for a new dam when he comes across what the locals call the 'blasted heath' just outside Arkham. The ground looks unnatural and it spikes his curiosity, but he can only find one person who will tell him its secrets.

I can think of no better voice to give the nameless surveyor recounting a terrible story he was told. An often overlooked aspect of Lovecraft's writing is how beautifully poetic his descriptions of terrible madness are. This recording brings that out. It's just perfect.

Literally Perfect

Some of Lovecraft's best prose, very little of the racism. As usual, he over-explains & drowns the reader in foreshadowing, but still manages to make a trippy space mist frightening.

One of Lovecraft's best

I really enjoyed this audiobook...especially at such a competitive price!

The narrator's accent is pleasing (though, technically, the narrator would likely be American) and he has a good command of Lovecraft's formal style.

Highly recommend!

Chilling tale, beautifully narrated

I would buy any Lovecraft book recorded by Herriot. Bring them in, right? They are that good.
