About this listen

Clover Bradley was having the worst day of her life and then she got kidnapped. In her own home. Well, her empty and currently being renovated childhood home on the edge of Disciple, West Virginia and not her former cozy cottage on the grounds of the Dixie Yonder Hotel where she was working and thriving until that very morning. But it still counts and definitely makes her very bad day much worse.

But that’s not even the crazy part. The crazy part is that she’s falling for her kidnapper. A handsome man, if a little morally challenged, who is probably very dangerous and has threatened to kill her half a dozen times over the span of just one day, but what can one do? The attraction is there.

Riggs is just trying his best to stay out of prison. Which seems at odds with his current actions, but need-to-know nuances make all these nonsensical pieces fit. And even though Clover isn’t a model captive—she’s a complainer of the princess variety—he finds himself getting attached. If he hadn’t been forced to kidnap her to save his own hide, he could see a future where the two of them end up together.

So he figures… why not save her life by endangering her some more?

And she figures… well, it’s better than being left to rot in her own basement.

And that’s, of course, when things get interesting.

The Comfort in the Brave is an ironic twist of fate inbred to a really bad decision. It’s a captive romance turned ride-or-die in a crazy escape from Blackberry Hill—but this time Collin Creed isn’t coming to save anyone, he’s looking for revenge.

Great series.

Book 3 of a forever series This book is all about trust. It is Clover's story. In typical JA Huss fashion there are twists that I didn't see coming and really make the story interesting. The first two books were "sweet romance" and this story is slightly darker, Clover is kidnapped and Riggs threatens to kill her. Riggs has a history with Colin. Great story and fabulous narrators. Can't wait for the next three books.

Kidnapping with a Twist

So, Clover gets kidnapped from her childhood home, and things get *really* weird. She starts falling for her captor, Riggs, who is basically the opposite of a prince charming. It's a strange combo, but it works.

The book is a mix of romance and adventure, with plenty of twists and turns to keep you hooked. Clover and Riggs are both flawed characters, but they're super interesting to follow.

If you're looking for a fun and unique read, this is definitely worth checking out.

JA Huss does it Again

Book 3 was more like Julie's past books. We see the dark theme here emerge, and I am here for it! We still are in this fantastic new world that we apparently are going to live in forevermore. I must say that makes me so happy.

We meet A new MC, Riggs and we see Clover as well. From the first page you are hooked. The story starts and just launches off taking you on a wonderfully twisted journey. There is more than meets the eye with Riggs, well, that really applies to everyone in the Trinity and the Trinity itself. I still am not sure who can be fully trusted. The added story line here puts that all back in question.....again! We are seeing more layers peeled back exposing people and what we think is one way is flipped completely. Love that! We see our first loss of a character, enemies to lovers, a second chance theme and so much more. I am hooked and cannot wait for more of this world!

A Great Series

In this third installment of the Sacred Trinity series, we meet Lowyn's best friend, Clover. Clover is having a bad day, and when she gets to her family home in Disciple, her lousy day worsens. She finds a squatter in her house. Riggs is on a mission from one of the underground camps. He can't have Clover running to Lowyn, who will tell Collin about him. For self-preservation, Riggs takes Clover hostage and mistreats her until something clicks between them. Is it Stockholm syndrome or something more?

I love this world. There are so many great characters, both good and bad. Even though Riggs is a jerk initially, I knew he had a good heart in there somewhere. I love a "good" evil villain; it is even better when that villain is female. The story is a little darker than the first two books in the series. It pulled me in from the start and kept me turning the page and wanting more.

The Comfort in the Brave kept me on my toes. I knew something dreadful would happen from the beginning, but I didn't know what. Let's say I was on the right path but completely missed the left turn.

This story is for you if you are a fan of romance, suspense, and conspiracy theories. I must mention the audiobook while I'm here. I comment on every audio that Julie publishes on how she picks the perfect narrators for her stories. Well, she does it again. Samantha Summers and Robin Blake are perfect for Clover and Riggs. They are great storytellers and voice actors. These two added tremendously to my enjoyment of the book.

I can't wait for more in this series.

Darker

I feel that my love for Riggs grew with Clovers. I really did not like him, but he redeemed himself. Great narration and all the new characters. can't wait for the next 3 but I am sure Ms. Huss you will keep us busy.

A bit soft for a JA Huss story

This was softer - more of a traditional romance story… but it lays more groundwork for the darkness that I love to see from JA Huss.
And from the EOBS I can see that the dark is really coming. And this series will go on unto perpetuity! I am ready - bring it on!!

Love this new series!!!

Julie never disappoints and the EOBS has made me so very happy because next month we get something amazing. Every time I listen to the EOBSsI, think to myself, Julie will you pretty please have a compilation of EOBSs like maybe one a year and tack it onto the last audiobook release of the year? I know that’s a huge ask, but it would be so cool. I think sometimes I like the EOBSs as much as the books! I also love how dedicated Julie is to putting out a huge number of really amazing books every year. The only downside is it’s hard to find books that are anywhere near as good while waiting for the next one.

Adventure and romance

As usual I am floored by the talent that is JA Huss!! She has delivered a lighter dark romance, barely dark, more dim than dark…anyway, this book closes the door on the revival town stories but doesn’t lock it so it could be slammed open for more but the reader is left feeling satisfied at the end. Completely worth the read and listen to the EOBS!!
