About this listen

THIS AIN'T A JOB FOR THE GOOD GUYS

Varcade fled to the deserts of Harrah to escape his past as an Educator, a member of an order of zealot warrior-monks that aims to shape the world according to their sacred Teachings by force. Varcade makes his living as a reckless sword-for-hire, caring only about himself, until his self-centered lifestyle is turned on its head when he is contracted to recruit a misfit team of unruly assassins and take out the mighty Bone Lord of Akrab.

But the Bone Lord is aware of the plot and sends her band of Dusters to stop them; individuals who have gained bizarre and lethal magical powers by snorting the pulverised bones of dead gods. Hunted by Educators and Dusters in a city-state where an escalating conflict between the human and demon population threatens to boil over in a civil war, will Varcade and his ragtag crew save Akrab from the cruel Bone Lord, or will they make things even worse?

A violent comedic adventure in the absurd

Brings great works to mind, like Cowboy Bebop, The Witcher, The Boys, and maybe most of all the anime One Piece - with its equally absurd heroes, villains and super powers.
The book starts off on the more serious side, but by the time the author finds his stride in the later chapters, it more often than not teeters just on the edge of adventure and a delirious fever dream of twisted comedy.
"baby arm" 😂
Also truly excellent work by the voice artist here!

Can I join the Crew??

Sadir S. Samir has crafted a thoroughly entertaining fantasy adventure that won't disappoint! The Crew quickly won me over with its fun characters, exciting world, and a dynamic plot that constantly brings in new cool ideas. Narrated excellently by Tim Paige. I loved meeting every character who joined the Crew on their way to slay the Bone Lord of Akrab. Varcade’s short attention span kept every engagement with him energetic and fun, which pairs excellently with his fighting style as a superpowered Educator from a distant land. The Demon characters were also a highlight. Their technology and culture were interesting to explore, and seeing their dynamic with the “Onions” of Akrab was well crafted. This was my first novel by Sadir S. Samir, but it won’t be my last! I am excited to see where the God Dust Saga goes next.
