About this listen

The Xaros broke against Earth's defenses, but the war may be lost.

The alien ships of former allies rule Earth's skies, threatening to obliterate cities and turn the planet into a barren wasteland if humanity refuses their demands.

With their backs to the wall, the scattered crew of the Breitenfeld must work together to foil the enemy's plan before time runs out.

The path to freedom leads through The Crucible.

What made the experience of listening to The Crucible the most enjoyable?

The combination of excellent storytelling mixed with some good humor always makes this series enjoyable.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Team Standish. All the way. He'd be the only person that could keep me sane in this universe.

Have you listened to any of Luke Daniels’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Luke Daniels is always top-notch, and this book is no different.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

The Calimari Confrontation

Any additional comments?

I found this series because of Luke Daniels. I love the series very military, and obviously the reading is amazing. If you like sci-fi and military you will love this series.

The person talking did an outstanding job of relaying the story. Just as good as reading the actual book which I prefer but do kit have the time to do currently.

As usual a great story to read. Driving to work is made much more tolerable.

While book 7 was a bit predictable and seemed to hint at another multi-book war with another set of species, I was pleased to find out that this book completed that war with flair, daring and guts from the primary protagonists. There are several surprises and twists we discover as the war plays out and the strategy of using what amounted to multiple "Hail Mary" maneuvers in order to win the day was enjoyable to see how they played out without knowing the specifics ahead of time.

The preview into book 9, as with the previous novels, opens new questions that guarantee that I'll grab the next episode as soon as it's available.

A bounce-back from book 7
