Publisher's summary

A collection of outrageous stories by the standup comic, TV host, and inspiration for the movie National Lampoon's Van Wilder

Bert Kreischer doesn't know how to say "no." If he did, he wouldn't have gotten himself mixed up with a group of Russian mobsters on a class trip to Moscow, earning him his nickname: "The Machine." He wouldn't have wrestled with a bear or swum with sharks on national television. He wouldn't have (possibly) smoked PCP with a star of Saturday Night Live. And he wouldn't have been named the Number One Partier in the Nation by Rolling Stone, inspired the movie National Lampoon's Van Wilder, or performed standup to sellout crowds across the country.

The stories Kreischer shares in Life of the Party are a guidebook on how not to grow up. From his fraternity days at Florida State University, to his rise as a standup, to his marriage and first brushes with fatherhood, Kreischer shows you a path that may not lead you to maturity or personal growth. But it will lead you to a shitload of fun.

Critic reviews

“The author's affability and self-deprecation only add to his charm, and the result is a genuinely hilarious look at life in the fast lane.” —Publisher's Weekly

“Bert Kreischer is one of the great American wild men. A gonzo warrior driven not by cynicism or a desire to reveal dark truths but instead by a deep, almost essential, need to have a good time--no matter what. His stories track the trials and tribulations of a big-hearted dude trying to fit in, help out, party and find himself. After all is said and done we arrive with him at the true humility of joy.” —Marc Maron, New York Times bestselling author of Attempting Normal

“Bert Kreischer is as fearless on the page as he is on the stage. Bert admits things in Life of the Party that most of us wouldn't even admit to ourselves. Open to page one and let Bert Kreischer take you on the magical ride. You'll laugh out loud frequently, feel uncomfortable occasionally, and even feel a little warm and fuzzy at the inner warmth of this perpetual man-child--but you will always, always be entertained.” —Mick Foley, #1 New York Times bestselling author of Foley is Good

Hilarious

Burnt Chrysler is the perfect man to narrate these wacky stories. Definitely worth a listen or 5 on a road trip, or if you’re feeling down.

Hilarious

I've been a big fan of Bert Kreischer for a while. This book written by Bert and narrated by Bert telling crazy stories about Bert was awesome.
If you are a fan of Bert's stand up comedy or his tv shows or just because you heard him on Elliot in the Morning in the Washington DC area and thought "this dude the best" then you will like this book.
I really enjoyed all of the extra content that wasn't in the book. That was great.
Thank you Bert for writing this and narrating the audiobook.

+5 hours very well spent.

Bert Kreischer is an amazing person! Narrating a book he wrote about himself adds a entire new level to this story, where he adds quips about the stories that he did not write in the book and it is wonderful.

Some great stories from one of the funniest dudes.

This guy is a master story teller and his laugh is infectious. The Russian mafia story is the best.

great book

It was an awesome and hilarious book. As a father of two children myself, the last chapter really got to me. I only heard about this book after listening to his interview on the Tom and Dan podcast, and I just knew I had to hear the book for myself.

Powerful, Bert Kreicher.

Bert Kreicher has got to be one of the funniest motherfuckers on the planet. His stories are ridiculous, fun, and had me bursting with laughter. The best part must have been his narration and off the cuff comments while reading. My only wish would be for him to write and narrate another!
