Publisher's summary

Whispers of war become a battle cry in this epic series finale.

Invasion is imminent. Skirmishes have erupted all across Alveria’s borders, but the lingering effects of the sickness have left the dragon guard weakened. Unprepared for a strike at the heart of the kingdom, difficult alliances must now be made to protect them all.

Circumstances at the Akademy are no better. Kaelan Younger’s attempts to learn more about her renegade father and the Terra dragon fighting for the enemy are complicated by tapestries that refuse to reveal their secrets. And when the queen’s efforts to stop the war involve Prince Lasaro, Kaelan is forced to confront the growing feelings she has for her dragon.

Their only hope to stem the tide of war is to find the long-forgotten Standing Stones and harness its ancient power. It is there that Kaelan and Lasaro’s love will face the greatest test.

And one will make the ultimate sacrifice.

Read the others first, but then this one is good!

I was given this book for free in exchange for an honest review.

I like the book because I like dragons and this book had them. I don't think you should start with this book if you haven't read the others, but even on its own, this was a good book!

So Good.

The Dragon Sickness
Alveria Dragon Akademy, Book 2

By: Ava Richardson
Narrated by: Rebekah Nemethy
Series: Alveria Dragon Akademy, Book 2
Length: 9 hrs and 59 mins

I listened to this book at 1.50x

Surprisingly good.
Book 1
This is a story about a peasant girl with powers of healing and a Prince who is learning his able to transform into a Dragon.
The two meet up on their way to the academy of Dragons and trainers.

Book 2
Kaelan Younger has finally been accepted as a dragon tamer at the Akademy, and Prince Lasaro is her Dragon.
The two of them are on a mission to find the cure for whatever is making all the Dragon sick and dieing.

I was surprised how much I enjoyed this book. Its categorized as Childrens Audible but I'm 55 and listen to many genres. This is a fantasy book not just for children.

Narrated by: Rebekah Nemethy, did a great job. So many different voices

Dragons

If you love dragon books then you will love this. I would recommend you read the first two in the series to get a better understanding of what is happening and get a better connection with the characters.

Graduation into war

Kaelan and Lasaro are continuing their trying year at the akademy. Their relationship has been tested and damaged. In order to survive the year, let alone the brewing war, they will need to pull together more than ever,

The story was very well done, but there were a few moments when it drifted into young adult territory. Older and wiser adults burying their heads in the sand for the students to solve the issues. I really did enjoy this series and highly recommend it!

She finds her power

This is the eleventh book I’ve read/listened to by this author and I would listen to anything she writes. Her storylines are somewhat original, uncomplicated yet not lacking in plot, characters are well fleshed out and engaging.
In this book, we get what is I believe the conclusion to this storyline. I suppose there is potential for continuing with these characters, but their plight until now has come to an end. There is no surprising twist. The book finished exactly as I thought it would, however I thoroughly enjoyed getting there.

This is the third book I’ve listened to by this narrator ( Rebekah Nemethy ) and I would listen to anything she narrates. Her voice acting is excellent and she brings life to the story so that I feel the character’s angst. Her character voices are distinct and she and imparts personality to each one.

There are no explicit sex scenes, excessive violence or swearing.

YA Fantasy Dragon Romance

I didn't read the first two books and admittedly this book would be a lot better if you had started from the beginning. However, the author did a great job filling in the necessary information throughout the story to not leave me confused. There was plenty of action, some mystery and yes romance. This is a little heavier in romance then most cozy novels but still nothing explicit so I would place it as a middle school and up level read. I really enjoy the fantasy Dragon based stories and felt this one was unique and a lot of fun, it may have been a little predictable at times but the entertaining way it was written made up for it. The narrator did a great job and I enjoyed listening to it.
