Publisher's summary

Her betrothed cheated on her. The duke offers to save her. Can a marriage of convenience turn into true love?

In this steamy historical romance, a sheltered baron’s daughter and a celebrated duke agree on a marriage of convenience, but he has a secret that may ruin it all.

She is desperate to escape....

When Miss Annabel Ridley learns her betrothed has been unfaithful, she knows she must cancel the wedding. The problem is no one else seems to agree with her, least of all her father. With her wedding day approaching, she must find a way to escape her doomed marriage. She seeks out the Duke of Halmesbury to request he intercede with her rakish betrothed to break it off before the wedding day.

He is ready to try again....

Widower Philip Markham has decided it is time to search for a new wife. He hopes to find a bold bride to avoid the mistakes of his past. Fate seems to be favoring him when he finds a captivating young woman in his study begging for his help to disengage from a despised figure from his past. He astonishes her with a proposal of his own—a marriage of convenience to suit them both. If she accepts, he resolves to never reveal the truth of his past lest it ruin their chances of possibly finding love.

The Duke Wins a Bride is the delightful first book in the Inconvenient Brides Regency romance series. If you like worthy heroes, fast-paced plots, and enduring connections, then you’ll adore Nina Jarrett’s charming audiobook.

Taking control of the situation…

A solid regency romance with a strong female lead character.

This was my first book by author Nina Jarrett. I enjoyed the storyline and especially loved how strong the main character was. She definitely took control of her own destiny.

Claire Glover did an excellent job with the narration. I enjoyed her performance very much.

Phillip and Annabel

Annabel runs to the Duke of Halmsbury for help in breaking her betrothal to his (unfaithful) cousin. His solution? He will marry Annabel. Can what starts as a marriage of convenience ever be anything more? Phillip and Annabel are a charming couple. They truly are meant for each other. This is a fast-paced, steamy romance full of humor, emotion, secrets, misunderstandings, and some surprise reconciliations. This brought to life by the talented performance by Claire Glover. Now what is going on with Mrs. Harris and Clinton? You’ll love it!

Pleasantly surprised!

I’m new to this author and saw an ad on Facebook. It sounded good so I purchased it on audible. I have tried so many different authors and genres recently and none were hitting the spot. This one sure did! In fact, I can’t wait for the other books in this series to come out on audible. So good! Thank you Nina!

Gorgeous book and gorgeous narrator!

I loved this gorgeous book, which strengthened my opinion of Nina Jarrett as a very talented author. And of course it was my favorite trope ever, marriage of convenience! In this case the attraction was there from the very beginning, but both characters were scared to love due to terrible previous relationships. Poor Philip had chosen the wrong wife for his passionate temper, while Annabelle had had a veritable rake for a fiancé (and a pompous ass for a father!). Both wanted love, complicity, partnership and a family. The lovemaking is very steamy, but with lots of feeling. The writing is excellent and the characters well-drawn, even the less likeable ones. And I’m happy that the author plans to redeem the rake in the following book! Can’t wait to read it.
As for the narrator, she’s quite good with all the voices and she had the right intonation for every different moment of the narration. A very enjoyable experience.

Not terribly bad—better than the first two novellas

This full length novel—though a little long and somewhat repetitive on the “angsty” parts, wasn’t terribly bad. I do plan to read the next installment.
