About this listen

Sparks fly in the finale of the Scandalous Gentlemen of St. James Place series, as the last wicked rogue meets his match.

When Rosalind Sharpe gains the attention of the deliciously wicked duke of Avendale, she's torn between her distracting attraction to the notorious rogue and the knowledge that he - rich as Croesus - is the perfect target for a deception that will put her swindling days behind her.

However, Avendale is no fool. After he discovers the tantalizing lady packing up to leave London with his coins in tow, he confronts her with a scandalous proposition: She can have all the money she requires - for a week in his bed.

Desperate for the funds, Rose agrees but on one condition: He must never question her motives. Avendale quickly sees beneath her mask and discovers she is more than passion and pleasure - she is everything he has ever desired. But claiming her requires he unveil her secrets and lose her forever. Unless he can put his own dark past aside and risk everything for a chance at love.

wonderful!

the narrator was not quite as good as the other I've heard read heaths books, but I still loved it. I actually cried at one point, and that is unlike me. if you want to read or listen to books with intelligence and heart, heath is definitely the way to go!

A Feast for My Ears

What made the experience of listening to The Duke and the Lady in Red the most enjoyable?

The story was great but the narrator's made the story telling even better. This was no light weight regency love story. I think it's post regency pre Victorian. I couldn't stop listening. I have these really great water proof blue tooth buds so the only time I wasn't listening I was either sleeping or doing something else I found annoying because it interfered with my listening

What did you like best about this story?

This story dealt with a very mature subject. It's not a hearts and flowers story.. It's serious drama.

Which scene was your favorite?

When Rose and the Duke first met

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Yes. When her brother died. I had to break out the tissue to dry my eyes and to blow nose

Loved this book!

Loved the characters! Harry made me cry! Their journey was redemptive, but more about the beauty of love and how personal sacrifice is a part if that experience, for a lover and for family. The story went into directions I did not anticipate. A pleasure to read!

Awesome.

This is one of the best stories I have heard/read in a long time. I cried and I laughed. It was had a great message about those with disability.

spoiler....
Whereas the heroine's brother is suffering from Neurofibromatosis, the same disease as the elephant man. It was just great.

Swoon-WORTHY!

First thought when finished: The mystery in The Duke and the Lady in Red by Lorraine Heath was compelling and the damn end made me cry.

Quick Thoughts: This was one of those stories that I would only trust in a few authors hands. The leading lady was not typical, especially for a historical. In the wrong hands she would have been down right unlikable or at least not a woman you would root for an HEA. Instead you not only love Rosalind but end up wanting to make sure that Avendale is worthy of HER! Avendale is swoon-worthy so don't get me wrong. He is every thing I want in a Historical Leading Man (yes I have different expectations depending on the type of leading man and period). In the end though it was his connection with Rosalind that makes him super worthy. Don't you love with the love story makes you go SWOOOOOOOOOOON? The mystery of why Rosalind is the way she is was the most compelling part of this story for me. It is worth reading and having that "oh my" moment without spoiling. It was compelling and felt authentic to the time.

Audio Thoughts:

Narrated By Helen Lloyd, James Adams / Length: 12 hrs and 4 mins

Helen and James are a perfect example of how two narrators can work for an audiobook. They were both outstanding and balanced each other well. The pacing was steady, equal emotional output, and their voices fit these characters. I highly recommend this on audio!

Heartwarming Story of Love .. not just romance

This story totally stole my heart! Not only did it grab me from the beginning - it held me throughout. This was the first book in a longtime I didn't speed up the narrative ever!

The Avendale is an A** - or is he? The way Avendale transforms in the book had me falling in love with him! Rosiland was a great character as well. And her brother....OH MY!!!

This was a different story! Plenty of steamy romance, BUT it was so much more! Love of family and love of human kind. Just a touching wonderful story!

Cried my eyes out at times, was over heated at times, was angry at times - but LOVED IT THE ENTIRE TIME!!!!!

My only complaint was that the ending felt rushed and I really wanted more!!! But I would have been happy if it never ended!

LOVED IT LOVED IT LOVED IT!!! Credit worthy!
