This collection of 25 Hercule Poirot adventures is compiled from short stories written by Agatha Christie for The Sketch magazine in 1923 from March to December. In these stories, including "The Disappearance of Mr. Davenheim", "The Veiled Lady", and "The Adventure of the Egyptian Tomb", the eccentric private detective slowly and surely solves mysteries involving jealousy, revenge, and greed. A great collection of the early Poirot short stories excellently preformed and very well paced.

There’s really not much to say about this one, the stories are typical Christie and a great way to get to know Poirot and all of his eccentricities.

Armstrong’s performance gives life to the characters and makes the story feel more like a radio play than an audio book.

Definitely recommended for mystery fans and those who had never read any of the Poirot series.

A wonderful recording of entertaining stories - spoiled by the nattering robot voice trying to immediately force me into buying another recording. No, I don’t want your recommendations - I get those from real people. Like having a delicious peach spoiled by a spot of mold.

I enjoyed this book because it allowed me to listen to full stories of classic mysteries when I didn't have a lot of time. A must-have for any Audible Library!

Great short stories - squeeze one in whenever!

While I generally enjoyed the stories, they were somewhat formulaic. The narration was good. I was somewhat taken aback by some of the references to other racial groups that I can only assume was more acceptable in 1923 than it would be today, at least in polite society. MAGA folks would flock to it yet, I surmise.

I thought the reader did a very good job with the many voices and accents. I would not hesitate to listen to more from him.

The stories were fun and it was interesting to consider life in 1923. I also was bewildered by the reference to jeans, television and central heating in the Christmas story, figuring it had to have been written later, but it was still entertaining.

I've watched all the Hercule Poirot TV shows, movies oh, but it is most fun to read the original stories.
By the way David Suchet on Masterpiece Theater is the best Hercule Poirot ever, follows these stories to a T.
The narrator did a first-rate job with voice inflection and changing voices for the characters. Wonderful to listen to.

I am very familiar with the Poirot series on the BBC. This was a really interesting trip back to the original works in magazines that have since been cut and and adapted beautifully for TV (and some radio/audio works). The stories are very fast paced and I'm sure I enjoyed them more since I was familiar with later versions of the stories.
