About this listen

In the floating city of Sanctaphrax, fusty old professors scheme and bicker with each other as they study the weather in minute detail - mistsifting, fogprobing, researching the air blowing in from beyond the Edge. But some experiments are best left alone...

Quint is the son of a sky pirate captain. He arrives in Sanctaphrax at the request of Linius Pallitax, the Most High Academe, who needs an apprentice he can trust to carry out a series of highly important tasks. Just how important, Quint is about to find out as he and Linius' only daughter, Maris, are plunged into the midst of a terrifying adventure that takes them deep within the rock upon which Sanctaphrax is built.

You can practically feel the Banderbear's fur and smell the Tilder sausage of Paul Stewart and Chris Riddell's well-loved fantasy world as the Edge is brought to life in glorious detail in a new reading by Alex Jennings.

This book

Along with the earlier books in this series it is a great quick read and good to read to kids. But I wouldn’t usually spend credits on a book this short. ( about 3 hrs 25min)

purchased the book to reread and feel a little nostalgic. didn't realized it was abridged until it was too late. it really diminished the experience.

too abridged

just unable to listen. they take out full sentences and dialogue. ridiculous. i have adhd and dyslexia so i read by looking at a book as well as having it read to me with an audiobook. but by second page it just made it even more confusing. remind me not to sign back up with audible.

abridged really ruins a good book.

really wish it wasn't abridged as it really takes a lot out of the book. the book is good, the reading performance is decent, the content presented here is terrible.
