About this listen

Meet Buffy. With three ex-wives, a failing career and only his dog, George, for company, Buffy's bachelorhood is looking worryingly confirmed. Until he meets Celeste. Dazzled by love, Buffy has no idea that Celeste is systematically researching his ex-wives, children, and step-children, and unearthing secrets that will change all their lives.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would, but would suggest they read this one before the Heartbreak Hotel. I read in reverse order.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Ex-Wives?

Impossible to name just one. I liked the scenes with Poppy in the pharmacy and Buffy looking the window at Harrod;s.

Which scene was your favorite?

I cannot name just one. This question is annoying.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Again, you expect absolutes. No, I did not cry. Yes, I laughed. Yes, I was nostalgic and melancholy.

Any additional comments?

It might be helpful if your review questions were not to one or the other or so black and white. We're talking about literature here, not some stupid TV show with lists, etc. Thank you.

Curiously intriguing tale of modern day society

I should have listened to the negative reviewer. Heartbreak Hotel is one of my favorite audiobooks but this one just made me sad. I didn't like the story. It made me feel sorry for Buffy and even though some of the characters and incidents are interesting, the reader brings nothing to the experience. She has a nice voice but reads without character.

If you love a lot of personal details about people you don't know or care about you might like this book. I couldn't finish it.

Not like Heartbreak Hotel!
