A mother’s greatest wish—or darkest nightmare—comes true in this chilling classic audiobook thriller from the Master of Suspense, Dean Koontz.

“Koontz puts his readers through the emotional wringer.”–The Associated Press

In the year since her son Danny’s tragic death, Tina Evans has suffered incredible heartache. But now, with her Vegas show about to premiere, Tina might be ready to put her grief behind her and start over.

Until a shocking message appears on the chalkboard in Danny's room: NOT DEAD. Those two words send her on a terrifying journey from the bright lights of Las Vegas to the cold shadows of the High Sierras, where she uncovers a terrible secret.

I love the paranormal

and Dean Koontz delivered wonderfully on this book. I was scared, tense, and look forward to getting in the car to hear this book. Excellent!

Good book

Wasn’t a huge fan of the person reading it. Thought there could be a little more. Good listen though.

Good until it turns into a hollywood action movie

I enjoyed the first part of the book where the female protagonist shows wisdom and bravery to solve a mystery, for the love of her son. The mystery is somewhat scary but compelling. I went through the chapters, looking forward to the next surprise. However, it starts to go downhill when the root of the mystery is revealed and the male protagonist reveals his secret skills one after another. The thrill becomes an action movie since the plots are so predictable and the main characters are too capable to look real.

(Yes I picked up this book just to see how it "predicted" the virus. No the story isn't much related to that)

Interesting in relation to the current pandemic!?

I love Koontz and have been reading his books for a long time. This book is frighteningly similar to the pandemic going on now, although it was written in the '80s. It revolves around a manmade virus of biological warfare from Wuhan China! I am not a conspiracy person....but wow!! 👍

Not what I expect but a pretty good listen

I began this story 3 months ago and wasn’t really into the first 3 chapters so I put it on the back burner till this week. Once I completed the first 3 chapters I found that I was sucked in to see what would happen next. I did enjoy the listen but felt that the ending left much to desire. They flee but there is no real wrap up which leaves this book feeling unfulfilled and unsatisfying. There was a lot that could have been written to wrap it all up but instead we are left with a ending that is abrupt.

Wuhan 400 Virus!!!!

Is this guy for real? This book grabbed me from the beginning with the death of a young boy and a mom who never gave up hope and finally triumphed.

The strange thing is the book about a bio warfare virus named for Wuhan China was written in 1986. Pretty crazy, huh? It's a very good book and very exciting. Probably not as page turning as some of his later works but just so eerily pertinent at this time.

The other thing that struck me is the narrator, Tanya Eby, sounds so much like my favorite narrator, Sandra Burr. Her voice is like butter melting. Beautiful voice. Turns out the the producer of this book is named Sandra Burr. The same one? Don't know. But makes me wonder if she is really the narrator and goes by the other name sometimes.

Worth a credit!!

a lifetime moving

I thought it was ok. Really i was surprised
that Dean Koontz would of written this type of book. It was read from a women and in a women's perspective which is fine but even the men in the story responded as I
if they were women themselves which was oddball.
