About this listen

Nathaniel Moon is the reluctant messiah.

He has powers that define the word miraculous. But when he used those powers to help others, he brought about a world of trouble.

Now Nathaniel lives a life of quiet obscurity, performing anonymous miracles. But, his anonymity has to end, because evil is coming to Middle Falls, Oregon, and threatens the people Nathaniel loves most.

It's going to take a reluctant messiah to put things right.

Includes a special bonus note read by the author.

This story would have been pretty good if there had been a different narrator. It was a cross between a story being read to a toddler and a dramatic newscaster. The “voice” used for the best friend sounded like a cartoon character. The question that went through my head the entire time I listened was “how on earth did the author approve this person to relay his story????”

Narrator was TORTURE

The mom (Violet) just doesn’t seem believable to me, I don’t understand how she goes from raised in a cult to basically a typical single mom drinking wine. I really enjoyed 1-3 and found them to be easy fast listens. The narrator isn’t my favorite. I’m trying to finish just because I like going through a series in order, but this one is slow going and not enjoyable halfway through.

Not my favorite.

The author described this as a "palate cleanser" between the main story lines, and it does feel like that.

It starts out like a punch in the stomach, but then calms down into a life portrait of a very Zen individual in a very strange situation. It explores the question of what makes a life worthwhile, and what responsibilities we have to ourselves and others.

This didn't grip me as strongly as #2--Michael Hollister's story--but was still a page-turner. Feel-good and thoughtful.

All the narrators for the series have been A++ so far, this one is no exception.
