About this listen

In this breathtaking new story from the astonishing imagination of James Patterson, a girl has to save herself from an army assembled just to capture her—and maybe save the planet while she's at it.

Maximum Ride is a perfectly normal teenager who just happens to be able to fly, the result of an out-of-control government experiment. Max and the other members of the Flock—six kids who share her remarkable ability—have been asked to aid a group of environmental scientists studying the causes of global warming. The expedition seems like a perfect combination of adventure, activism—and escaping government forces who watch the Flock like a hawk.

But even in Antarctica, trapped in the harshest weather on our planet, Maximum Ride is an irresistible target in constant danger. For whoever controls her powers could also control the world . . . Maximum Ride is James Patterson's greatest character, a heroine who manages to be human and fearless at once. THE FINAL WARNING is an unrelenting new adventure from the writer Time magazine has called "The Man Who Can't Miss."

Good continuation of Series

Would you listen to The Final Warning again? Why?

Maybe

What other book might you compare The Final Warning to and why?

The rest of the Maximum Ride books

What about Jill Apple’s performance did you like?

All of it. She brought ALL of the characters to life but she was really Max to the limit!

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When Max is dealing with her feelings for Fang and her jealousy. She tells Fang that "there is no me and you." And Fang responds, "There will ALWAYS be a me and you!"

Just a platform for political views

I've really loved this series so far and couldn't wait to read this book, but then it went off on this stupid global warming soap box crap. Everyone has their own views on things. He should have just stuck to the story and left all that other crap out. I'm not even sure if I want to read any more of the stories now in case they're more liberalistic garbage. Very disappointed.

This is a great book.

You should let your kids read this. It holds a great message, and anyone that doesn't want you too needs more education. Probably the type that think Vaccination gives autism.

Don't believe them. If you know we're in need of upping our game in climate change, this book pretty much just makes it to something a kid could understand if they haven't heard of it.

It may not be as action packed as the others, but it still holds the same ideals.

enjoy these books

I've always really enjoyed the Maximum Ride books, my main issue is that every one of these there seems to be a different narrator. That's kind of a bummer

Needed to do his homework

Would you try another book from James Patterson and/or Jill Apple?

I will read another one of his books.

Has The Final Warning turned you off from other books in this genre?

Not from this genre but maybe this series.

Was The Final Warning worth the listening time?

This book had a major political agenda. Completely turned me off.

Any additional comments?

I have read lots of Patterson books, this is the first one I did not like. He needs to do his homework, a little better, on global warming. If you want to read a book with a left-wing political agenda this might be the book for you otherwise it is not worth the time.

Why?

Too much propaganda on the dangers of global warming. Too little story line progression and character development. SPOILERS: i dont like that the new ability the flock have magically manifested no definitive cause. so far this is the worst book in the series. you could skip reading this one and you would miss a thing.

Preach

Good story except for the MAJORLY EXCESSIVE PREACHING on the so called "global warming BS".

Mutant kids run amuck

Patterson has a knack for writing thrillers and as a fan of his work, I wanted to love this. However, compared to recent listens like Robert Stanek's wonderful Kingdoms and the Elves of the Reaches, The Final Warning wasn't as good.

Cute

Another episode in Max's life...another adventure. Cute, easy to follow. And informative about environmental issues.
