About this listen

"Master, armed men at the gate demand to speak to you!"

In a world where the volkh wizards once ruled as gods, and the light wars with the forces of darkness, a teenage boy discovers that there are other important things besides following the wizard's path to mastery. But even young love is threatened by the forces of the dark. Now, lives depend on Jeremy's willingness to risk all.

Continuing the story of young Jeremy, the boy who turns into a Panda, The Fourth Bear of God picks up as he continues his journey into power. As a "Journeyman," Jeremy is sent on a patrol with his best friend Harold, where they travel the roads and gates, protecting the realm of Master Anthony. There, they find adventure and evil that must be stopped before they return.
What I love most about this book is that the author captures the voice of a young man coming I to adulthood quite well. His world evokes the myths and legends of the Rus while blending other cultures as well into a wonderful melange of a fantasy world that feels real and wonderful.
If you enjoy a rollicking tale of coming of age, power and its costs, and young love, then this is the story for you. The performance is wonderful with excellent characterization and accents that evoke an image of the characters in your mind's eye.
