Publisher's summary
An age has passed, a blight curses the land, and one hero stands above the rest to restore the balance.
Verdan Blacke is an Imperial Wizard, a researcher by preference but soldier by necessity. Surviving an intense battle, Verdan is cursed by a hex witch in her final moments. Without any good options, Verdan escapes the ever-increasing pain the curse inflicts by performing a self-made stasis ritual.
When the spell fades, and he has awoken, Verdan finds a world completely different from the one he left behind. Dark things work in daylight with impunity, once common knowledge is a mystery, and even the nature of magic that humans use has changed.
One wizard, a million problems, and the wrath of profound magic.

Story
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

Jazz Bashara is a criminal. Well, sort of. Life on Artemis, the first and only city on the moon, is tough if you're not a rich tourist or an eccentric billionaire. So smuggling in the occasional harmless bit of contraband barely counts, right? Not when you've got debts to pay and your job as a porter barely covers the rent. Everything changes when Jazz sees the chance to commit the perfect crime, with a reward too lucrative to turn down.

Leo wanted to make something out of himself—and build dams. However, the world doesn't want dams. And it mostly doesn't want civil engineers. It doesn't want men who do any sort of building or fighting or grand design, it seems. So, when Leo finds his current girlfriend and boss being threatened by a brutal loan shark and all three of them get dragged through a portal to another world, it doesn't take long for him to decide this is the place for him. Plus, everyone has magic, and who wouldn't want that?

Story
Larek Holsten is different from most people living in the Kingdom of Androthe, where his seven-foot-tall frame is looked at with suspicion and anger from its shorter residents; but as long as it helps him become the best Logger he can be, he doesn’t let it bother him all that much. He and his best friend, an axe with a powerful Fusion that causes it to become sharper and stronger than a normal tool, are feared by the trees in the magical forest north of his home, as he can fell the quickly growing monoliths faster than anyone else in the community.

Amazing
I decided to give this book a chance and honestly, I was not disappointed. It sounded like a cultivation story it has elements of it in it for sure,

I tried...
The story itself is fairly decently written. it has some OP character traits without it seeming boring, the world building is interesting, the characters actually have personalities. I wanted so badly to enjoy this, but from the second I turned it on, the narration frustrated, if not completely angered me. I have no clue what accents the male narrator was trying to do, but they were inconsistent and often came off as cartoon-y. When there was a conversation between the male and female narrators, the sound was so off it was jarring. Being completely honest, I returned this and read on Kindle so I could at least get the story. If narration is a killer for you, I highly recommend skipping this book

It’s just so-so
It is just one of those so-so stories. Not great but not bad either. Was hoping for amazing so well there you have it. Not a bad story, not boring but not great

OK story with a frustrating MC
The story was alright at the start, but I found it increasingly frustrating moving forward. The MC has lost knowledge from his past that he refuses to teach/show because it is too dangerous or might cause wars. He doesn't seem to realize the crappy situation he and the whole of humanity is in though. Monsters roam around and it gets worse year after year, corrupting magic has has turned powerful magic users and people into some kind zombie like creatures left unchecked, but yeah lets not share information because it might cause a war. It is actually more surprising that humanity isn't dead with how bad and corrupt they are.

Great Book One
I'll be honest, I was a bit unsure what to expect from just a plain fantasy story when I have been listening to LITRPG's for so long. But i was blown away with the story and characters of this book. The MC, Verdan, is trying to hold fast to his beliefs and morale's, while trying to help those around him and live a simple life, while discovering what he has missed in his self induced slumber. Fans of the genre will undoubtably see similarities in this story to others they are familiar with, but for listeners like me this story is a fresh break from the normal and I honestly can't wait to see what else this story holds.

5 stars
Another great book by J Parsons. You will not be disappointed. Also the dual narration really brings the story to life.

I think I overslept.
Verden wakes up centuries, if not millenia, after casting a spell on himself.
Now everything is way different and he has to start over at level 0. But luckily he has his memories and knows what to do to level up.
He saves people from slavers and a few of them decide to follow him and help him out.
Lots of great characters and adventure.
Looking forward to book 2.
I give this book 7.5 out of 5 stars.

A great first book
I received a free copy to give my honest opinion, I will try to avoid spoilers. In Arthurian legend, it was said that the great king will one day return to save the land. However in this case, instead of Arthur, it's Merlin. That should give you a hint of the kind of culture shock and shenanigans our MC will go through. Overall, this was an entertaining story.

Its alright i guess.
Therea not much on the cultivation, the world is just the town and the forest. Alot of action but i found my self bored, theres no indepth in alchemy or commerce. Its Just fight this fight that. No real plot, just wakes up and fights. Monsters to stick around.

The ending was just bad.
Overall the story started off pretty good, but became pretty scattered and then just ended on a bad note. The whole story just seemed like it was just rushed. I’m honestly not sure whether I want to go on to read the next book in the series or not. The lame ending just kind of stupid.
