Publisher's summary

Would you risk it all to save your family?

The Hemorrhage Virus tore through America and swept the globe, leaving no country untouched. New Zealand was no exception. Those infected mutated into monsters, monsters that became known as Variants.

Seven weeks have passed since Jack and Dee's quiet world shattered. Along with a small band of survivors, they fled to Mayor Island. Determined to help stem the Variant scourge, they volunteer for what remains of the army. Led by Captain Ben Johns, a grizzly retired NZ SAS soldier, they are sent on a dangerous mission to rescue a scientist. They must call on all their skills and courage to overcome a deadly foe.

They thought the worst was over, but humanity's fight for the future of mankind has just begun. Evil forces have a score to settle with the survivors in New Zealand.

New Zealand 💞 🇳🇿

I so enjoyed learning about the Kiwi culture a bit and think you should continue that...its also great when a story makes you want to Google the places and historical & cultural references!! Thats what I love about this series other than the great story line and characters you genuinely feel invested in!!

More relationships, less zombies

It was as good as the first book, just more focused on establishing relationships between the survivors.

Incredible!

Another amazing entry into the Extinction Cycle universe by Adrian Smith. Raphael does an absolutely perfect narration that makes the story flow so intriguingly and emotionally flowing through the epic world Adrian has created in this version of apocalyptic New Zealand. The story makes you think and really reflect on what a real apocalypse might look like. How humans would react, adapt, and ultimately align themselves in a new world where we are no longer at the top of the chain.

Incredible Journey!

I was intrigued by the title and details in the book description but I had no idea that I would be completely captured by the story.and characters you've developed. I too, Love ALL of the movies you referenced in the book and thought it to be ingenious when and where you injected those similarities. That made me love the story even more! I am also a huge fan of the author you referenced in the opening and closing and have followed his books as well. Funny thing is that I don't have much time to read but audible has made me into an avid listener of books that I would have never thought of opening myself up to....Thanks Audible....and THANK YOU for such an Incredible Journey! (I don't want to be a spoiler which is why I didn't mention the movies and authors.....hopefully it sparks someone's curiosity).

Humanity fights back in Variant plagued NZ!

Following on from the outstanding debut of author Adrian J Smith. The Fourth Phase picks up 7 weeks after the events in The Rule of Three. Jack and Dee have teamed up with Ben and two others to form the Renegades. Thrown back into the hellish landscape. I loved the edition of Maori warriors and learning about some of their culture. The character Boss was an inspiration, missing leg and all. The author really knows how to paint a picture as if you are right there amongst. I'm really liking the narrator too.
looking forward to book 3.

A thrilling story

I got hooked from the first book! The details are amazing and it really takes you to the place of these events in your head. I love exciting zombie/monster books and this was full of all that energy and detail. Honestly shocked at the review below…. This book is awesome! Of course there’s character development and further details, to really built on this world and events, maybe that was the “slow pace” for the previous reader, but I loved it all. Ultimately this book is a must read!!

Fantastic.

Another pulse pounding instalment of the Extinction Cycle. Jack, Dee, George and the rest are safe and under Ben’s training. Long before they are ready to the newly formed Renegades are forced into action. While away on the mission the compound they have been staying is attacked by Variants and Collaborators. And that is just the beginning. The narration is still brilliant. I enjoyed this novel immensely and would definitely recommend it.
