About this listen
Welcome to the Kingdom of Rosandria: a place where dreams can come...if you are born into the right family. Paracelsus is a poor farmer's son. His dream is to become a Master Storyteller, and dazzle audiences with glorious tales of adventure. To help make ends meet, he finds a job as a sweeper in a warehouse filled with mysterious Dreamstuff: a rare substance that shapes into whatever someone wishes for.
Emiliana is a spoiled princess who wishes away the entire load of Dreamstuff. Suddenly, she must flee for her life from the nasty Archibaldina, who has claimed the throne of Rosandria as her own. In the absence of knights, Paracelsus gets shoved into ill-fitting armor, paired with an ever-changing mythological beast (as no horses were available) and sent out as the Giddy Knight to save the Princess...or at least try to cheer her up. After multiple mishaps and too many close shaves with death, Paracelsus suspects that either the glorious stories of knights he has long loved are somewhat misleading, or he's having the wrong kind of adventure!

He's been sold to Tyburn, an executioner, and they're headed to Castle Gloom in Gehenna, the land of the undead, where Thorn will probably be fed to a vampire. Lilith Shadow wasn't supposed to be ruler of Gehenna. But following the murder of her family, young Lily became the last surviving member of House Shadow, a long line of dark sorcerers. Her country is surrounded by enemies, and the only way she can save it is by embracing her heritage and practicing the magic of the undead.

Story
A contemporary man, John Thornburn (a meek, non-violent and unpredictable artist) and woman, Derval (his tough, confrontational, strong and warrior-like lover) time travel to ancient Ireland to avenge a Viking attack. Packed with fascinating details of historical time and place in Irish history and delicately balanced on the border between realism and fantasy, the story centers around one of the most famous and beautiful illuminated manuscripts in history, the legendary but entirely real Book of Kells.

Story
Long before they were spirit animals, the four were still legends - Great Beasts, the most powerful beings to roam the wilds of Erdas. Aided by a brave resistance of humans and animals, they gave their lives to protect the world from a threat more dangerous than any it had seen before: their own kind. Wise and cunning, gentle and ruthless, these are tales of the true heroes and villains in the war that started it all.

A Storytelling
A comedic misadventure of Paracelus, an unlikely knight with an ever animal-changing sidekick mixing with a spoiled princess ... double trouble with a prince she’s betrothed, an ingrate double crosser, kidnapped villagers, and a family connection to nice pirates and a dazzling world building extraordinare - why only three stars?
For a simple story, it draaaagged (through no fault of the narrator!). I had intended to listen to it all the way through, during a recent snowfall, but kept rewinding, several chapters back ...?
My eventual solution was to program the audible to stop after each chapter ... and if I didn’t realize it, I knew where to restart. Tedious, but this book had such such promise and I wanted soo much to enjoy and finish it. Finish it, I did. However I didn’t enjoy it as much as I wanted!
I doubt this is really geared to the 8-10 year olds; tweeners could appreciate it, overall, more.
I would suggest this as a bed time story or family story time, small bite size to keep the intrigue and mystification.
I wouldn’t reject this and I intend to give it another chance in the near future.
