Publisher's summary

From the New York Times bestselling author of Part of Your World comes a romantic comedy full of "fierce humor and fiercer heart" about how one adorable puppy brings together two perfect strangers (Casey McQuiston, NYT bestselling author of Red, White & Royal Blue).

Artist Sloan Monroe just can't seem to get her life on track. But one trouble-making pup who randomly jumps into her car with a "take me home" look in his eyes is about to change everything. With Tucker by her side, Sloan finally starts to feel more like herself. Then, after weeks of unanswered texts, Tucker's owner reaches out. He's a musician on tour in Australia. And bottom line: He wants Tucker back.

Well, Sloan's not about to give up her dog without a fight. But what if this Jason guy really loves Tucker? As their flirty texts turn into long calls, Sloan can't deny a connection. Jason is hot and nice and funny. There's no telling what could happen when they meet in person. The question is: With his music career on the rise, how long will Jason really stick around? And is it possible for Sloan to survive another heartbreak?

AMAZING MUST READ/LISTEN

Umm, I found a new author I love. Loved the story, and that fact that though loss is horrific life keeps throwing curveballs and happiness is always within your reach.

Cute Romance

What a sweet story of how a new romance can put a bounce in your step! Along with some ups and downs and twists and turns of course, Jiminez delivers.

Loved the format of alternating her voice then his voice along with the song references. The story is well thought our and relevant. Characters are well described and with background development which makes them all endearing. The performances are also most enjoyable. I read nearly all non-fiction so this was a deep departure but a welcomed, enjoyable romp.

Just a fun "read"

Being involved in music, the title of this caught my attention and I went back and forth. Lately I feel like I have purchased books that just had crappy performances, so I was feeling gun shy. The intro sample talks about a dog jumping in through the main character's sunroof, which seemed not only improbable and hard to imagine, but frankly just silly, But the reviews were so positive, I decided to give it a try and I am SO GLAD I did. Because everything that comes after the sunroof incident is great!

The book would be a great read regardless, and a perfect beach book. It's written from two points of view - Sloan's and Jason's - and therefore each performer reads as the character. Both performers do a great job of bringing the characters to life and the back and forth is not at all distracting or confusing.

The story itself was a nice break from the heaviness of current events. Sloan is every women trying to make it in the world, whether you are single, coming off a break up or the ultimate loss of a love. She is relatable in her struggles - feeling lonely, feeling like a 3rd wheel, trying to keep up with a house, afraid to trust and love again.

Jason is, quite frankly, many a woman's dream. Sexy rising rock star with an old-fashioned heart. I loved that he wasn't this star who swoops in and is perfect and whisks the woman off into his life. He struggles and faces painful sacrifices and tries so hard to see a life that fits for them both.

Make sure you listen to the very end, where the author explains her inspiration for the story. Makes it all the more wonderful.

If you are looking for a great love story with a lot of feel-good moments, this is it.

A Real Tear Jerker

Wow I could not stop listening to the story. Abby Jimenez hit the nail on the head when it comes to grieving. I couldn't stop crying with the Sloan because her grief felt so real and I felt like I had lost Brandon too (even though it was only a story). The narrators gave a wonderful performance with the characters and Abby Jimenez did a great job with writing the story. I loved both of books and hope she continues with this line of writing because she is very talented. I loved the narrators too. She is definitely one of my favorite writers and I rank her as good as Rich Amooi but in her own genre because well he writes Romantic Comedies. The way they are both similar is that their characters are very down to earth and it's as if they could be actual real people. Both of these writers show that they really do understand people and what they go through. So as I only write reviews only for those books that truly move me or touch a certain place in my heart, I am going definitely say that I look forward to more of her books, and I can't wait.

Perfection! My new all time favorite!

This has to be my favorite love story ever! Humor, love, reality, sadness, loss, life and dogs....it’s just perfect! Not to mention the selection of narrators for the audio...perfection. I just loved it so much and have already told everyone I know about it.

Swooning

This book had me giggling like a girl and tearing up for them. I haven't read anything else by this author but this book, and the Playlist stole my heart. It is not perfect, there are a few chapters toward the end that drag too much but, this book is definitely worth it.

Have been waiting for a real love story like this!

This book really drew me in with how real the characters are and how I could actually imagine them as people. The author beautifully develops the characters as individuals as well as romantic partners making it clear they each want what’s best for each other. I have one minor confusion about the storyline. Something gets explained earlier in the novel and then gets brought up again as if it was never mentioned? I’m not going to spoil anything but I wonder if anyone else caught this. Also I wish when the narrator was reading for the males that a guy had read those parts rather than only when it was from Jackson’s perspective. It just threw me off with how breathy the narrator was during the male dialogue. Regardless the author did a great job! I highly recommend.

I Was Left Happily Ever After - Spoilers

I cannot express how much I loved this book! I read the author's book that is prior to this one, The Friend Zone, and I loved it, but it ended so sad. I was glad to have the second book that compliments the first and have it end on such a high note. I would love to see another book about Lola or even Zane! The book made me laugh, sigh, and even shed a tear or two. I recommend that anyone who reads this book to listen to the songs that are listed with each chapter. It really adds to the story, and is just some really awesome music. I was glad to see several that I know and love in there that could be hidden gems for others. This was amazing, and I have been recommending it to everyone I know!
