Informative about Gen. Pickett.

While covering his military battles, the book gives insight as to the man's view of the war.

Can't judge a book by its cover

If you could sum up The Heart of a Soldier in three words, what would they be?

Learned lots new

Who was your favorite character and why?

The couple, Gen. & Mrs. George Picket, late CSA, astounded me, and blew away my presuppositions and stereotypes. I didn't know of the Lincoln-Pickett link or or Marse Robert's Gettysburg coverup. Aptly titled, this book gives us a glimpse of George Pickett's human core.

Which character – as performed by Andrew Mulcare – was your favorite?

[see above]

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Wanted to, yes. Did, no.

Any additional comments?

I wish Mrs. Pickett had seen fit to include letters from before 1860, perhaps some from when Pickett was commanding American troops in the Pig War standoff with Great Britain in 1859.

Great collection

This is a great collection of letters from George Pickett, he's quite the writer and this audiobook really brought him to life to me. The reader does a fantastic job, everything moves along pretty quickly so there is no need to worry about it becoming dull. I highly recommend to any Civil War buff.

good very good but short

The book was good wish it was longer. Also not a lot of war data narriator said it was left out on purpose. Emotionaly listing felt good . I liked the nature of the writing and the fact that few narriator insertions were made.
