A proper young lady should never attend a masque.... Aphrodite is no lady.
Betrothal to the callous Lord Blackhall painted a future devoid of love. Upon his death, Lady Caroline Wilmont is promised to the younger brother. Caroline refuses to allow her first taste of desire to be at the hands of a man who would rather have any woman but her. This, her last night of freedom, is to be a memory of lust that she can take with her throughout her loveless marriage. As Aphrodite, Caroline attends a masque determined to find a man to initiate her into the intimacies of erotic love.
Taran Robertson, viscount of Blackhall, makes no secret that he despises his obligation to marry the Sassenach heiress chosen for him by his father. As a last foray before his wedding, he attends a masque. However, the spirited vixen he meets and seduces has secrets...secrets that just may reveal he's to have an improper wife.

I loved everything about this deliciously naughty book. From Aphrodite and the masked man's first encounter to Caroline and Taran falling in love. The chemistry was perfect and the sex was hot. Regency romance readers who enjoy erotic romance will love this book.
Deliciously naughty

An easy historical sex book

The story itself was very well written, and seemed like it could very easily be made into a movie. I'd definitely watch it! The steamy bits were also well done and flowed well with the rest of the story. I didn't feel like things moved to quickly, and never once did I feel like I had missed something whenever Taran and Caroline hooked up.
Overall, an excellent book. I look forward to reading more works by this author.

Who was your favorite character and why?
Caroline was my favorite character. She was totally clueless about sex and listening to her husband bring her out of her sexual shell was pretty intense. I like the way Caroline did not let her Uncle get away with trying to control her life. Of course, the final outcome with the Uncle led to a real story twist later on in the book.Which scene was your favorite?
I like the way this book started off at the Masked Ball. This is not a typical Masquerade ball theme. It followed the actual facts of a typical Masked Ball period piece. I was pleasantly surprised. The romance that developed was a little predictable, but the story was saved by the sweetness of Caroline combined with some steamy sex scenes.Any additional comments?
Both of these authors write very good Historical romances, and the story was entertaining. This audiobook was provided by the author, narrator, or publisher at no cost in exchange for an unbiased review courtesy of AudiobookBlast dot com.
Not a typical Masquerade ball theme a nice suprise

I am a fairly tough rater, so an overall 4 is a relatively high score from me. I started out disappointed. It got better.
I am not a prude and have no issue whatsoever with sex in a book. The way this book started out was vulgar. It seemed there was just sex to have sex in the book. I don't like that. I want to know and care about the characters. I want to not be disappointed in them. I don't need them to be perfect, I just want them to be inherently good. We read this type of book so that we can be emotionally involved with the characters. I don't expect very young women in the historical past to be talking vulgarity or even thinking the words in their heads. It was a bad way to start and threatened to lose me completely. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying she wouldn't be thinking about sex, just saying she wouldn't have thought the particular words the author used and it stuck out like a sore thumb.
A young innocent girl would not be thinking the words she did, and again I'm not a prude but I do not expect a girl like this to be using the p & c words, even in her head, and as often as she did? I expect a good author to be developing the characters and drawing me in, not trying to earn readers with shock and sex. Let's face it, people back then were not the same as now, and if they were having unmarried sex, it wasn't out in the open, and certainly wasn't being done by young innocent unmarried women, who would have died rather than lose their virtue which was often considered the only thing they could offer a potential husband.
The book got better, I did come to care a bit about the characters, not as much as I would have liked, but they can't all be 5 star. 2/3 through I was thoroughly enjoying myself and there is even a longish scene where I was laughing hysterically. You'll know it when you come to it. :O) Also, once the characters were developed a bit, the sex is no longer intrusive and out of place. I do have to give credit for that.
In the end, the author lost a bit of my involvement again, because (I call them Mcgiver's) there were just constant threats that never would have happened and always someone at hand to rescue the heroine.
Yet another book where I started out thinking I didn't like the narrator at the beginning and she surprised me and pulled it out and really did a terrific job.
Overall I gave this book 4 stars. It may not quite have earned it, but to be fair I was also less than attentive thru the 2nd half and not fair to give the team a 3 because of my lack of attention. All in all, it's worth a credit and a couple afternoons or evenings company. We all need a HEA once in a while! So Yes give this book a try. Once you get past the first couple chapters, you'll enjoy yourself.
