About this listen

Maxim

Proud and passionate, the Marquess of Bradbury swore vengeance on those who had stolen his title and lands. . .and branded him a traitor to the Crown.

Elise

Beautiful and spirited, she found herself the innocent prisoner of the marquess, her family's most hated foe.

So Worthy My Love

They were bitter enemies caught in a dangerous tide that swept through Elizabeth's England—And thus began a battle of wit and will between two people so perfectly matched that they could only fall in love.

I'm trying hard to be patient but I'm into the 5th chapter and it's constant bickering! It's like a long car trip with 2 kids in the back bickering! I really liked other books by this author even though she drags story's out. I don't think I will purchase one again. The narrator was good but she must of been exhausted on this story. I'm not sure why is got so many stars. I guess it's my own fault I let that fool me into such a depressing and irritating storyline.

Disappointed!

I couldn’t finish because I was so bored. I did get to chapter 14 and I wasted about 7 to 8 hours that I can’t get back. I could not believe it as she is one of my favorite authors.

Read this when it first came out. Loved it then, love it even more now.

Reliving the past!

I thought I had read everything by this author back in the day, but apparently I missed this one. It was a wonderful surprise, it was just waiting for me to discover it all these years. It was worth the wait for me. 💙

A hidden gem for me..

I got this book because of Roslyn Landor. Her storytelling is usually top notch. Even with her narration, it was hard to follow and the main male character is hard to take. Maybe I’ll try again another time. I made it 8 hours. I have 12 more to go 😩

Dragged out. Horrible character

Very good book by one of my favorite authors. It is a wonderfully good story.

The story

Back when this was written, women were just beginning to feel their freedom in many ways. Sure, this was probably was as daring then as the more recent 50 Shades was when it was published. For me, I couldn’t help but compare it to the Princess Bride. All the characters were there. I heard it with the same tongue in cheek and ribald humor, even if it was not intended. Some of the more tender dialogue was cringe worthy otherwise. Still, it was a fun story.

Enjoyably Woodiwiss

Hah- and I do mean a long and slow burn. Outside of a brief introduction at the start, our H/h were not seen on the same “page” again (so to speak) until five plus hours into the audiobook. That’s got to be a record even for Woodiwiss who is an original creator and authority in this particular sub-genre. Be prepared to settle in! In terms of the writing and storytelling it is classic KEW and well done . Rosalyn Landor’s narration captures the many characters, charm and humor that the author intended to bring to her readers. I enjoyed it.

Long. Slow. Burn.

One of my favorites! Such a great love story! So glad these books are on audible now!

Classic

For half of the book it was like “The Taming of the Shrew” and Elise did every tortuous thing she could to best Maxim. Then the second half of the book she makes 180 degree turn, and is sweet voices and sweet actioned - it doesNOT make sense, and is completely out of character! I hated her! Then Maxim is always (and I mean ALWAYS) saving her!!! Is it all because of sex? This was a very stupid book that tried to get through by including everything at once! I did not like it at all!

Dumb story!
