About this listen

A writer who craves a real-life happily ever after and a gruff fisherman who doesn’t believe in them find out they’re part of the greatest love story of all time.

“Cleverly imagines the epilogue Romeo and Juliet didn’t get to have, and how curses can be blessings in disguise.”—JODI PICOULT

A POPSUGAR BEST BOOK OF THE YEAR

After a bad breakup, Helene Janssen runs away to Alaska to find some peace and quiet. She’s been dreaming up bits and pieces of a novel for years and hopes to finally have time to write it.

On her first night there, Helene meets Sebastien Montague, a crab fisherman who looks exactly like the hero in the book she’s working on. But how is that even possible?

Sebastien seems to recognize Helene, too, but he lies about it and brushes her off, even though their chemistry is immediate and undeniable.

This is because their love story defies the ages: She is Juliet, reincarnated, and he is Romeo, lost in time. And if Helene can convince Sebastien to give her a chance, maybe this time they can rewrite their ending and find a true happily-ever-after.

Critic reviews

The Hundred Loves of Juliet is romantic, realistic, and fanciful—a love-for-all-times story. I couldn’t put this book down. I really wanted Helene and Sebastien to have a happy ending, and I’ll just say I was very surprised!” (Nancy Thayer, New York Times bestselling author of All the Days of Summer)

“Fresh, magical, and hopelessly romantic, Evelyn Skye’s The Hundred Loves of Juliet is a book for lovers. I was swept away. It’s an atmospheric, tug-at-your-heartstrings winner, showing us that true love never dies.” (Sarah Addison Allen, New York Times bestselling author of Other Birds)

“A rare and charming retelling that asks the question: What if Romeo and Juliet had another chance? What if they had a hundred? The Hundred Loves of Juliet is a celebration of life as it comes and love as we find it.” (Ashley Poston, New York Times bestselling author of The Dead Romantics)

Deeply Moving Love Story

I was enchanted by the concept of the story and by the construction. Weaving the characters’ perspectives, and the stories from their past experiences in alternating chapters was beautifully done. The plot drama toward the end was slightly unsatisfying for me, but ultimately I really enjoyed the book. Truly lovely love story.

Amazing

I usually read/listen to more smuttier books. But this book was simply perfection. Out of almost 80 books this year this is the best one of this year! PERFECTION!

Just when you thought

Just when you thought all the good Romeo and Juliet stories were already written… Then came this one. I loved it so much. This story itself, the performers, and more. And then the authors note… Just put the whole thing right over the top!

100 love stories told by Masters

The writing is lyrical, the love stories unique in spite of what you think you know of Romeo and Juliet, and the narration is superb. I'm a long-time fan of Joe Arden and his emotional performances are simply the best. Aspen Vincent was a new narrator to me and I loved her! Highly recommend!

Amazing and unique

For a hopeless romantic, this book is everything. love, loss, pining, optimism. the idea of a love so great it spans multiple lifetimes, dispite the heartbreak. my heart hurt for Sebastian. I felt the fear and confusion of Helene. I love the idea of Romeo and Juliet being true but not like we thought. The narrators were amazing. the only way this would have been better is if it was in duet narration instead of duel. Must read.

Beautiful Lesson/Reminder

The love between the two characters coming through to me as the listener. The underlying reminder to love

Disappointed

The story sounded fantastic, but the actual telling was boring - how can you make an external Romeo and Juliet love story dull? Even worse, the female narrator made every male voice high pitched and whiny, like a nerdy cartoon character - even Romeo! So obnoxious.
