A Book of the Month Club Selection

“Gossipy, scandalous housewives behaving badly might make this the juiciest read of the season." (Library Journal, starred review)

"Sultry, salacious and utterly unpredictable.... You'll devour it." (Riley Sager, New York Times bestselling author of Home Before Dark)

The Hunting Wives share more than target practice, martinis, and bad behavior in this novel of obsession, seduction, and murder.

Sophie O'Neill left behind an envy-inspiring career and the stressful, competitive life of big-city Chicago to settle down with her husband and young son in a small Texas town. It seems like the perfect life with a beautiful home in an idyllic rural community. But Sophie soon realizes that life is now too quiet, and she's feeling bored and restless.

Then she meets Margot Banks, an alluring socialite who is part of an elite clique secretly known as the Hunting Wives. Sophie finds herself completely drawn to Margot and swept into her mysterious world of late-night target practice and dangerous partying. As Sophie's curiosity gives way to full-blown obsession, she slips farther away from the safety of her family and deeper into this nest of vipers.

When the body of a teenage girl is discovered in the woods where the Hunting Wives meet, Sophie finds herself in the middle of a murder investigation and her life spiraling out of control.

Yes Ma’am! 🔥🔥

I really enjoyed this book. So many plot twist my ear was glued to my EarPod! Having a few East Texas ties it was fun to hear about some familiar locations. The author really draws you in with the character development of each lady and their position in the friend group. The main character is very relatable and easy to connect to. The antagonist could have possibly been given a bit more so that we can really understand her but maybe the stories of each wife can develop into more books that I would definitely read. There are some super steamy parts of this book that are well written and allow the reader to feel as though they are in the moment with each character.
Great job Mary. Keep them coming.

Not What I Expected...

It was an interesting listen..but not worth the hype it deserved when it came out. iI don't agree with the one star reviews. Everyone has their own opinion on what they find a good listen/read.

The perfect summer soap

This is so twisty and melodramatic. Like the best soap opera you just can’t look away from.

Lots of Drama

Like Desperate Housewives with murder. Lots of drama. Some of the characters are seriously stupid but it’s part of the story that highlights how someone can become over involved and get in too deep with bad consequences. Narrator was so good and the plot keeps unraveling until the very end!

I’m getting too old for this 👵

If you like a lot of sexual content, girl on girl infatuation, and a narrator that doesn’t annoy the 💩 out of you, this is for you.

*No spoilers*

Typically, I devour this genre, but this one was pretty cringeworthy. These characters are just AWFUL 🤮. Evil, naive, selfish, obsessive, compulsive, idiotic. Every character has at least two of these traits. AT LEAST.

One reason I powered through is that the first few chapters led me to believe there would be witty one-liners and laughable sarcasm throughout, but no. However, around halfway through, it does get more interesting.

I’m not homophobic, but is being bisexual now so popular that it has to be the highlight of every book? I’m only 41, not 71, but this, along with any and every politically charged issue, seem to be all anyone can write about anymore. It’s not even creative or entertaining at this point... feels a little sleazy and cliche.

Umm I don’t know

I don’t know about this book. Their is rich people, back stabbing society, an obsession that does not make sense since the beginning, a criminal investigation that the suspect is the lease person you think but it also makes since but in the other hand kind of was predictable before we were told. Overall not my favorite read. 🥴

Solid A-

This book was interesting overall. An entertaining and captivating listen, with an ending that wraps up well enough. Would have liked more cat and mouse, and it doesn’t leave you with any profound enlightenment at the end, but i give it an A for entertainment! Narrators voice is easy to listen to as well.

Twists and Turns

I enjoyed this from the first pages. It took a bit to get going but I now know that was to give the reader context into each character and how they relate. There were some dark themes and I respect the author for taking them on. Another plus was the setting--it made the story that much better. I would buy again.
