Why are so many people drawn to running? Why is running the most common physical activity? What is it about running that empowers so many people? And how can runners harness that power to create a more meaningful life? The Inner Runner addresses these questions and a whole lot more. This book is not about how to get faster or run a marathon; rather, it explores how the simple act of putting one foot in front of the other helps you harness your creative powers. Learn about the psychological, emotional, cognitive, and spiritual benefits of running and introduce lifestyle changes based on the latest scientific research on running and its effects on hormones and the brain.

As a nationally recognized running and fitness coach with a PhD in Exercise Physiology, Jason Karp brings his expertise in science-based coaching to runners of all levels. He believes that running gives you a chance to discover, challenge, and bring out the best in yourself by impacting your creativity, focus, imagination, confidence, and health. Gets you out and moving!

What a treat this book is! I loved it. As a returning runner I needed some inspiration and I found it here! The narrator perfectly expresses the author’s joy in running. Put on the headphones and head out the door with this one! I will return to this book any time I need a boost. This is my favorite among my many running books.

enjoyable book

I have been a casual runner for 4 years but for the last 6 months I have been training for my first half marathon and in doing so have discovered that I truly LOVE running. I could relate to a lot in this book as running has improved my mood and I have become more confident and happy all due to my running. I'd listen to the narrator and think to myself, "hey that's like me! I am a runner!" Was an enjoyable book and anyone who likes to run will enjoy this,

Interesting little book on the joy of running

This was an interesting book on the joy of running and the benefits that come from running. Written by a clear keen, but also not an elite world level runner, this is a great book for the rest of us middle packers.

Good

This audio book did have enough information to inspire my running and I enjoyed the overall concept. I just wished for a different narrator. Just couldn’t get into his voice. I had to listen in short chunks to get through the book! Also, I wish authors would stop overusing the “poor homeless black man out of prison inspirational” storyline. Why does the person of color always have to dig themselves out of poverty, drugs and jail?!!! There are millions of us out here living all different kinds of lives, how about including more variety in your inspiration examples. It’s getting a bit one note!
