About this listen

The bestselling fitness and self-improvement book for breaking through mental resistance and barriers, building unshakeable discipline, and keeping your goals alive when things get tough.

Fitness isn’t everything. But everything is harder if you aren’t fit.

Because the muscle and strength that you gain from working out is less important than the person you become by working out:

You become a person who understands that growing into the best version of themselves necessarily includes getting into great shape.

You become a person who never underestimates the power of simply believing in themselves and always looks for reasons to bet on their hand.

You become a person who realizes they can achieve far more than they thought they were capable of.

And that’s why I wrote this positive lifestyle habits book:

To help you become that person by sharing insights from scientific research, compelling stories, and practical strategies for staying motivated when setbacks, failure, and self-doubt makes you want to give up.

Here’s a sneak peek of what you’ll find inside this motivation book:

The "What, When, Where, If, Then" formula that will rewire your thinking for more consistency inside and outside of the gym.

● Three simple questions that will reveal your true "why" for fitness and unlock a wellspring of motivation that will keep you going even when it's hard.

How to stop sabotaging your progress with complaining and negativity and develop a solution-oriented mindset that empowers you to take action.

Warren Buffett's "2 List Strategy" for prioritizing your goals, eliminating distractions, and achieving laser focus and maximum productivity.

● How to use “productive pessimism” to avoid what scientists call the positivity paradox and cultivate a balanced mindset that will turn self-doubt into self-belief.

● And more

The bottom line is getting fit is like doing anything that most people fail at.

It's harder than you think it'll be. It'll take longer than you think it'll take. You'll make way more mistakes than you want to make.

But there’s also this:

You can't fail unless you give up.

So, if you’re feeling overwhelmed in your fitness; struggling with laziness, procrastination, or self-doubt; or trying to reignite your passion for working out …

… and if you want strategies for developing a resilient mindset that will empower you to stick with your fitness for the long haul …

… then you want to read this self discipline book for women and men today.

Common sense for the uncommon...

As my first audiobook, I didn’t want to cheat the experience by adopting expectations; however, I wasn’t sure that retention of the material would be as good as reading it on my own...man, was I wrong!

This book was engaging, well thought out, and presented on a way that within the first 30 mins of listening I was already unfamiliar with the blossoming new man in the mirror. The practicality and immediate usefulness of the book has served me well at home AND in the office. I would recommend this book to anyone looking to jumpstart their introduction to the best version of themselves.

Great motivator!!!!

I am on a weight loss & fitness journey. I have been working out for years with & without trainers. I have have success & failure both ways. After going through several surgeries and aging... it has become harder to attain the body shape & fitness level I desired. I decided in January to make some definite physical, dietary, and mental changes to achieve the body & life I want for the rest of my life. I feel this book has given me extra motivation to endure the challenges in the gym & outside the gym. Part of my challenge has been sticking to a healthy diet and not allowing “life“ to hamper my efforts. I am down 25lbs in 3 months and feeling like a new person. I have shared this book with my husband and plan to share it with my kids as they get older. I feel like their are so many beneficial life applications. My husband & I are going to do the 7 day challenge together. Thanks for having the courage to write this book Mike!

This is an excellent audiobook.

Mike Matthews is all out excellent and knows how to write well. The chapters that hit was chapters 26 and on. We're he was talking about how we like to "talk about it, rather than doing the work" this was always discuss by Ryan Holiday on his book "Ego is the Enemy" Again I am thankful that I had chance to stumbled upon on Mike's work and attitude towards life in general.

Great for all fitness levels. Great for all people!

I believe this book is great for all fitness ability levels from beginner to advanced. He lives very inspirational for anyone he just wants to improve themselves in an authentic way. I would definitely say I enjoy narrations by Michael Matthews, very easy and enjoyable to listen to. So in my humble opinion he’s a great narrator and does not really need to use anyone else to narrate his books. I would recommend this book for anyone. I am going to have my 18 year old son read this during his winter break!

Another great Michael M book

I wasn’t sure what to expect but I enjoyed his other books so thought I would give this a try.
This book exceeded my expectations.
I will likely re listen to it every year or so.
