About this listen

The instant New York Times and USA TODAY bestseller!

Hot on the heels of the New York Times bestsellers The Twin and The Lake, the undisputed queen of YA thrillers is back.

Don't be afraid. Be terrified.

It’s just a stupid meme that’s going around their small fishing town in the dead of winter—people reposting and sharing their biggest fear. But when her classmates start turning up dead—dying in the way that they said scared them the most—Izzy knows it’s no joke.

With each death hitting closer to home, Izzy sets out to try to stop the killer. Could her older sister’s friend Tristan have something to do with the deaths? He’s given her some strange vibes. Or what about his brooding cousin, Axel? But he’s in her classes at school. He’s not a murderer . . . is he? Izzie’s soon on a path that will lead her right to the killer . . . and her own worst nightmare.

I don’t know how I really feel about this book to be honest. I loathe the ending. Though I will say the last few lines did catch me off guard, but that’s the only thing throughout this entire book. Some say they kept guessing on who the killer could be but it was so god damn obvious. Almost drawn out. The killer to MC dynamic just left a distaste in my mouth and there were so many questions left unanswered. Overall it was decently written, well read, but that storyline? Awful honestly. Most unsatisfying ending I’ve read!

Ugh the ending really threw me off, like really?? I feel like the story could have still had a cliffhanger ending but just not with that one. It was also pretty predictable, I think there wasn’t much of a plot twist. Performance was pretty good. Not the best but not the worst.

My least fav NP book probably

Natasha delivered another amazing thriller! Her ability to keep me on the edge of my seat throughout the entire book, is incredible! She is the only author that I pre order every book and she never disappoints. I highly suggest The Fear to everyone that loves book that will keep them guessing

Loved this book! It engages you to learn more. The killer wasn’t too surprising and I guessed that it might be him from earlier on in the book. The author really did a good job with writing the book and taking the perspective of the main character,Izzy, who is a senior in high school. I do have the say, the end of the book could of ended in another way after the big scene. They just drove in the car after and could of talked about the killer’s arrest and how the sheriff handled that. It left the reader with a few question which is not always the best thing to do but it does make you wonder what you think would happen next. Definitely recommend and enjoyed reading this book which only took me about a week to read!

The fear is a great book with great ideas!

Excellent narration couldn’t salvage this dreary story. I really wanted to like it, but found the MC super annoying.

The story was great and the premise caught my attention I knew I wanted to read the book instantly. I loved the way the narrators presented the story and would listen to more works by them. But I will say I'm not sure if it's because I watch / reach slasher mystery / thriller genre too much but I knew who the killer was by chapter 10 and there are 50 chapters in this book. So I was cringing by the end wanting to slap the main character and her choices because I knew what was coming.
But it's a great book and great listen

Interesting story, kinda predictable
