About this listen

For 11 years Oakley Farrell has been silent. At the age of five, she stopped talking, and no one seems to know why. Refusing to communicate beyond a few physical actions, Oakley remains in her own little world.

Bullied at school, she has just one friend, Cole Benson. Cole stands by her, refusing to believe that she is not perfect the way she is. Over the years they have developed their own version of a normal friendship. However, will it still work as they start to grow even closer?

When Oakley is forced to face someone from her past, can she hold her secret in any longer?

UK native Natasha Preston grew up in small villages and towns. She discovered her love of writing when she stumbled across an amateur writing site and uploaded her first story and hasn't looked back since. She enjoys writing NA romance, thrillers, gritty YA and the occasional serial killer.

I loved it.

I absolutely loved this book. I am new to this author and both narrators and really enjoyed listening! The story let you know early on what happened to Oakley without divulging all of the details of course. The story of Oakley and Cole was a very sweet one and I looked forward to hearing more. I would have given the ending a thumbs down if not for getting to hear the first chapter of the next book since it leaves you hanging. Overall I loved it and am looking forward to book two.

Narrator

So the male narrator was great but the woman!! SMH.. You can hear her swallow hard and I swear one time she burped under her breath while she was reading!! The story itself is very well written and hits home a bit!

Looked the book.

The book was great, the audio was lacking. I wanted more emotion and actors that sounded younger. Oakley and Cole were supposed to be in high school but they sounded like mature adults. Otherwise, it is a good story.

Good Book 🙂🥰🙂

I have read this book before but I definitely didn’t know anything about The Audible app I loved to read but I stopped reading because it was just because I had a hard time getting thought books because I cannot say the words right or pronounce them right so I stopped reading All together even though reading books are better than watching tv 24/7 plus that you can’t stop listening to the book and you can listen to anything you want or whatever you feel like listening to no matter what else you’re doing . & the best part is that you can always take your book with you no matter where you go & you can always bookmark where you left off in your books & you can always imagine yourself in the story’s that you read which is fun to imagine yourself in a good story to some people that might sound silly but to me it doesn’t at all #I ❤️ to 📖 Read Now

Intrigued

I was intrigued by the silence and wanted to know why she was not talking. It soon became apparent something was very wrong. I just wanted to carry on listening. It is worth the listen. Thank you

Good not great but worth the read

Great start but the ending felt rushed and lacking. The story was unique and the connection between the main characters was heartwarming. However there were so many unbelievable aspects here and areas that could've been fleshed out a bit more. Overall it was an interesting concept. And clean. Another review mentioned vulgarity, but I really think this was tame. A lot of fade to black scenes and no major description of what took place when she was a child.

Silence can mean soo much

What a unique story, I read this book many years ago and loved it. My heart hurt so much for this girl who gave so much to make everyone happy. Oakley’s story is a sad and hard one to read/listen to but the story is one that sticks with you, not because of the nature of it but because sadly this isn’t always fiction for some this is their real life.

The way this story plays out makes you see how strong Oakley is and what she is tortured with every single day of her life. I love that she has this connection with Cole and how she can feel so safe with him. He makes her feel she is 100% fine just the way she is.

The narrators for this book are fantastic and do such a wonderful job bringing this story to life.
