Dark and Disturbing; Reminiscent of Ruth Rendell

This is the fourth Cass Green novel I’ve listened to, and while I like all her work, I think this is the best. The tension builds gradually, with much nuance, atmospheric detail, and richly developed characters. Of Ruth Rendell’s vast body of work, this most reminds me of “The Bridesmaid;” perhaps the creepiest novel I’ve ever read. At first I was not impressed with Freddie Gaminara’s narration, but as the novel progressed he settled well into Elliot’s character, and I think did an excellent job, as I got lost in the story, believing this was a first hand account of despair and confusion. The two story lines, which at first seem unrelated, do indeed come together, as you will discover; so don’t worry that you missed something. Just sit back and enjoy this very disturbing ride.

pretty decent book

it was good. not knock you over good but it was enjoyable. as always there will be no spoilers in my reviews
this book was good , steady paced not predictable
I lost one part at one point and still not clear on its relevance but it didn't seem to matter in the Long haul. the Narration was great. normally prefer English accent and a woman's voice however I wasn't unhappy at all with this narrator. the Narration was clear concise and full of energy which lead to a smooth listen
Cass Green hasn't disappointed me yet 😀

Didn't see that coming

this book was a little hard to get into at first but then I couldn't stop listening and waiting to see what would happen next! It left me wanting more of the story and feeling very sad for the main character ! All in all it was a great listen!

Suspenseful and keeps you listening

My first Cass Green audiobook, definitely not my last. Starts out very well and continues with one of the most creative storylines I’ve had the pleasure to listen to. So many twisty turns and surprises that I never saw coming. NEVER! Listen intently. Highly recommended! You won’t be disappointed. Well worthy of a treasured credit, but I lucked out and took advantage of Audible’s sale.

Great book!

The story started off slow and I wasn’t sure I was going to like it. I’m glad I stuck with it because it was an amazing psychological thriller. The performances were great also!

Very good!

Such an enjoyable read. Grabbed me from the first chapter and never let go! Domestic drama and a who done it.

Good

The story was good. The narrator lost my attention and the book seemed to lull at some times.

*yawn* Don’t waste your time.

I’m not sure what all the hype is about - this book was so drawn out and boring until the last two hours. I wanted to ditch it after two hours of boredom, but held out, in vain, for that “ah ha! Didn’t see that coming” moment the reviews promised. Any true suspense junkie will have the horribly lackluster ending figured out for sure with at least 3 hours left in the book. The worst thing about this book was how much unnecessary detail was put into parts of the story that didn’t matter, but you are left hanging on other “important” parts with very little background information.
