Publisher's summary

During the 1970s, Alice Combs, undeterred by a former employer's snobbish pronouncement, "You're not corporate material", transformed herself from divorced mother on food stamps to successful entrepreneur.

Resolute, Alice overcame her initial ignorance of the recycling trade and recovered from the many novice mistakes she inevitably made while teaching herself to operate Vulcan Wire, which would slowly become a thriving business despite an embezzling partner, cutthroat competitors, and several employees who proved unreliable when they were most needed.

Alice refused to be intimidated and wouldn't take no for an answer. Her exceptional achievement in a traditionally male arena is an inspiration for all women who aspire to the heights of success in their chosen fields.

This book is fun interesting and sexxxyy

I know Alice and Mike they are friends of mine. This book was so fun and sexxxyyy !!! They are are always traveling and this book tells about all their adventures, right down to the nity grity of it. She doesn't mix words about it she tells like it is. It's something I really like about her she says what she means. And she's funny and fun to be around and just love them both. You will to after reading her book!

Perfect title!

I have never heard of Alice Combs nor the baling wire industry, yet the hysterical title of the book caught my attention. Alice provides wonderful narration as she describes the events in her life and how she came to create Vulcan Wire. The story itself is incredibly insightful, raw, and honest. Hell, I even got insight into the mind of women in terms of relationships, careers, and family even though I was intentionally listening for business lessons (which there were plenty of). It's my deep belief that a formal education is not a prerequisite for entrepreneurial success, but rather grit, perseverance, and a bit of luck - all of which are displayed in Alice's story. For anyone obsessed with entrepreneurship and starting from scratch, I cannot recommend this book enough, especially for females attempting to make it in male-dominated industries.

On a side note, I believe that industries that sounds mundane and random often have the most opportunity and room for growth as opposed to big tech, finance, and the likes. Alice's story confirmed by suspicions as the bale wire industry seems to fit those parameters and allow considerable wealth creation.
