About this listen

New York Times best-selling author Adrienne Young returns with The Last Legacy, a captivating stand-alone about family and blood ties, reinventing yourself, and controlling your own destiny.

When a letter from her uncle Henrick arrives on Bryn Roth's 18th birthday, summoning her back to Bastian, Bryn is eager to prove herself and finally take her place in her long-lost family.

Henrik has plans for Bryn, but she must win everyone’s trust if she wants to hold any power in the delicate architecture of the family. It doesn’t take long for her to see that the Roths are entangled in shadows. Despite their growing influence in upscale Bastian, their hands are still in the kind of dirty business that got Bryn’s parents killed years ago.

With a forbidden romance to contend with and dangerous work ahead, the cost of being accepted into the Roths may be more than Bryn can pay.

Lovely book

I love this universe and this author. A new character, a different family explored further and more development of the world. I truly couldn’t ask for a better book about merchants. I was thinking it would follow Fable’s sailing tradition, but it takes you on a completely different trade with a completely new character and new romance. The book is rather short, and mostly focused on character development but I throughly enjoyed it. The narrator is great too.

Peaky Blinders but in the Narrows

A girl turning into a woman, commanding her own space. A Peaky Blinders cast of dirty handed family trying to gain legitimacy. All in Adrienne Young’s trademark page turning pace.

Great but didn’t know it would be a new lead

Also the main characters from the first two books in the trilogy weren’t featured at all. Really good story just didn’t expect the new characters.

Peaky blinders feels!!!

Absolutely loved this book and the narrator! Adrienne has such a way with words that you feel feel like your right in Bastien, in the tea house, right next to our leading lady! This has a very peaky blinders feel! Family, loyalty, making
Your own fate. Great addition to the fable world!

The only problem is I wish it was longer!!

First of all Adrianne Young is top tier! Her writing style is so good, she’s able to draw you in and keep you hooked. Second of all I think this may be my second favorite book of her’s, Sky in the Deep will always have a hold of my heart. I loved Bryn’s character, she is so strong and smart. And Ezra was the perfect brooding damaged man with a heart of gold. *spoiler alert* I loved how she absolutely saved him, he was ready to accept his fate but she was like, no sir, we’re both getting the heck outta here! As I said, I want more Bryn and Ezra!!

I love the world of the Narrows

I’ve loved every book set in this world. Adrienne Young has a way of making the plot move along so smoothly. I love her writing style. And the narrator is great as well. Another win from this author.

Confused on the Love Plot

I did quite enjoyed this book and all in all, I do approve of the romance. However, I did not really understand how the two lovers fell in love. There was obvious attraction from the beginning, but I wish the author had written more interactions between them before claiming them to be in love.

I enjoyed this book so much!

I enjoyed this book so much! All the more so I believe because I just recently finished the Fable duology. I wasn’t ready to leave this world behind.

Bryn was a captivating MC from the start. Her journey of self-discovery and her bravery pulled at my heart. I wouldn’t say that you had to have read the duology to appreciate this standalone, but it certainly made it more enthralling for me. This story comes with all of the scheming you’d imagine with a mafia-style family. It’s action-packed with just a bit of romance tucked in. A quick read and a fantastic fantasy!
