One of Bustle’s Most Anticipated Books of Summer 2020

“The perfect riveting summer read!” (BookBub)

In 1935 three women are forever changed when one of the most powerful hurricanes in history barrels toward the Florida Keys.

For the tourists traveling on Henry Flagler’s legendary Overseas Railroad, Labor Day weekend is an opportunity to forget the economic depression gripping the nation. But one person’s paradise can be another’s prison, and Key West-native Helen Berner yearns to escape.

After the Cuban Revolution of 1933 leaves Mirta Perez’s family in a precarious position, she agrees to an arranged marriage with a notorious American. Following her wedding in Havana, Mirta arrives in the Keys on her honeymoon. While she can’t deny the growing attraction to her new husband, his illicit business interests may threaten not only her relationship, but her life.

Elizabeth Preston's trip to Key West is a chance to save her once-wealthy family from their troubles after the Wall Street crash. Her quest takes her to the camps occupied by veterans of the Great War and pairs her with an unlikely ally on a treacherous hunt of his own.

Over the course of the holiday weekend, the women’s paths cross unexpectedly, and the danger swirling around them is matched only by the terrifying force of the deadly storm threatening the Keys.

What an incredible book

I'm a big fan of Chanel Cleeton and this story blew me away. As a native Floridian it was amazing to learn about the Labor Day Hurricane and veterans impacted. The heroines in the book were brilliantly woven in.

Another winnerI

I am in LOVE with Chanel Cleeton's books. The Last Train to Key West is another great read that draws you into the lives of three women in 1935 Key West with a hurricane coming. Her characters are all different but you care about them immediately. I was sad when it was finished.

I love this book!

I did not want it to end. These three women are well-developed and intriguing. I think
the author did a great job of writing their characters as well the characters of the men.
I was fascinated by the hurricane and the World War I vets piece of it. So tragic. The
narrators were all awesome. Listen to this book...you won't be sorry.

Wonderful

Lovely readings and great way to learn a little history about a not so well known hurricane that should be taught to and learned by Americans. This is fiction and a love story but it is so much more. Great character development. Strong strong women!

Loved it!

Best of the Cuba saga so far. Loved each person's story and how they intertwined. Enjoyed the author's note about the real hurricane.

Great book!

I was mesmerized by the way the author was able to weave the characters' lives and it wasn't until close to the end that the circle was closed . A wonderful story of 3 women who don't know how strong they are.
