Publisher's summary

Ben

I just graduated. I should be out celebrating. Instead, a storm's coming, and I've got no place sleep except the backseat of my car. At least I have my beloved beagle with me, but seriously, how is this my life?

Isaac

After a horrific week, I hate being unable to retreat to my island sanctuary. Perhaps sharing my hotel room with a stranger in distress and his dog will take my mind off things. Afterward, we'll separate and never meet again. Right?

A 10,000-word lighthearted gay romance with forced proximity, a loner, a future school teacher, and Buddy, the adorable beagle. This short story was originally published in the anthology Ukraine: Seeds of Love.

Good Story

I enjoyed this story. It was a sweet, short romance of two men who were strangers sharing one hotel room- and one bed- and fall in love. I don't really like the insta-love romance, but in a short read, it was fine. I didn't really feel the chemistry between Ben and Issac until their love scene- which was well done. But they did have a connection. Everything moved very quick by the end- which was even acknowledged aloud by one of the characters, but it worked and I enjoyed it.

I didn't read this book but listened to it narrated by Michael Dean. I have only listened to a few audiobooks, and while there are a few narrators whose voices I like better by their sound and tone, Michael did a good job. 4 stars.

Sweet story

This was a nice short story, an unexpected love affair becomes a forever love. There was one weird moment where they started talking about their ages when you would expect they would be…otherwise occupied? I figured I missed something though, and it didn’t take away from the story, was just an odd moment. Recommended!

Isaac and Ben...Sweet!

This audible was short and sweet. A forced proximity that brought these two lovely guys together. I kind of knew about this couple from a previous short and it was a delight to finally get to read/listen to their coming together. Michael Dean did a wonderful job with the narration. I enjoyed Isaac and Ben's whirlwind relationship and their HEA was nice.

Quick listen of a sweet M/M romance

The Lightkeeper's Love Affair is probably one of the quickest audiobooks I've ever listened to, but Gabbi Grey's story of two men who find themselves stuck sharing one room during a storm was sweet and turned out to be good company while I was doing a bit of organization. Ben and Isaac's romance was fast-paced, as one would expect since this is an insta-love sort of story, but there was no skimping on heart and heat. Michael Dean does a commendable job narrating Grey's story, making for an enjoyable listening experience. Four stars for the story, four stars for the narration, so an overall rating of four stars.

Stranded in the storm with only bed... to share

The Lightkeeper’s Love Affair by Gabbi Grey is an uplifting gem of a forced proximity/meet cute featuring Ben, a recently graduated elementary school teacher, and Isaac, a lightkeeper on his way home to his solitary island existence. Stranded at the same seaside hotel during a storm, there is only one room available – with one bed, and Isaac offers to share… what ensues is a mutual rescue of sorts, and their joining is organic. I was fully invested in this story with its themes of loneliness, attraction, and the joy of that moment when the universe presents you with your forever person… with your sweet beagle at your side to give his paw of approval. Narration by Michael Dean is top notch.

Short and sweet

A cute insta love type romance.
It’s short and sweet but so swoon worthy and a cute puppy in the mix!
The narration made it even dreamier!

Short and cute!

A short, cute, forced/proximity, insta-love story. Only one bed at the inn during a storm forces Ben and Isaac together. The sparks between them could light a fire and they are ready to declare their undying love for each other after their first night together.
The pace is fast and the story doesn’t dig too deep, but it’s a sweet way to spend an hour awwwwing!

Fast

This is a very short but very sweet meet cute. The old one bed trope but done in a fun way. I also like this addition to the Mission City world.
I listened to the audio version and it was well done.

Stormy Night Leads to Love

For a short, sweet love story, one needs look no further than author Gabbi Grey. Her newest, ‘The Lightkeeper’s Love Affair’, written with her usual trope-y goodness, is perfect for a quick escape into the lovely romantic world of Isaac and Ben. Along with an adorable dog, readers also find insta-love and stranded-in-a-storm (that results in close proximity). A bit rushed, maybe, but it’is a satisfying bit of storytelling.

Michael Dean’s narration completes the package with his usual splendid voice-acting.

I received an ARC of this audiobook, that I requested. This review expresses my honest and voluntary opinion.

Recommended.
