About this listen

Charles L. Grant sets forth to take us across time and into a fantasy world to his remarkable little Connecticut town of Oxrun Station. There are new horrors on the loose to excite each listener.

For all of you who, like the author, yearn for something blatantly old-fashioned, here is an opportunity to climb back into the past, and experience the thrill of the classic tale of The Mummy—the jackal-headed god…ancient Egypt…mummies…eternal.…

Classic horror tale that I enjoyed listening to. Good characters, interesting storyline kept me guessing and the narration was well done!

I did enjoy this overall. The story tends to meander at times and I will admit I got lost a few times, but overall this story was entertaining and creepy.

It was a solid story

Grant has written another series of books that I loved, so I figured I'd give this a whirl. I've gotten them all so far and just binged the first two books on Audible. He does the old Universal-styled monsters proud with some fresh takes and ideas, so you don't feel like you're watching a 1930s flick or reading some Elizabethian yarn. He's got a great style and an obvious love for weird stuff and monsters. Hoke does an admirable job telling the tale, making you live it out in your mind.

The third in a trilogy of classic monster tales, this mummy period piece is both superbly written and skillfully narrated. If you think you've read/seen all the monster stories, give this one a shot, too ... you won't be disappointed.
