About this listen

Conor Maguire nearly lost his daughter Barb when she was three years old, injured by the drunk driver that killed his wife. When the justice system failed him, Conor - the son and grandson of IRA bombers - retaliated against the driver in dramatic and gruesome fashion. While an ironclad alibi prevented the police from pinning the murder on Conor, it did not prevent a covert agency within the US government from recruiting the talented young bomber and machinist.

For over 25 years, Conor designed and built custom weapons of death and destruction at his compound in the mountains of Virginia. Then a series of devastating terror attacks brought down the United States. Conor and Barb assumed they were safe in their secure compound. They had food and a water source. They were armed and highly-trained. Then Barb was kidnapped.

The kidnappers, needing slave labor for their farm, didn’t know why Conor was known as "The Mad Mick". They didn’t know the fear and respect his name invoked in the shadowy world of covert operations. They didn’t know that when it came to protecting his family, he was without conscience, without compassion, and without equal.

But they would soon find out.

Great book. Love the return of The Mad Mick. Though this is a standalone recommend all of Franklin's books in this similar series. Learned a few tricks from this book.

The Mad Mick is an awesome character! He does what he has to to get the job done. He was made for the apocalypse. Mr Horton does an amazing job on this book! When I didn’t think it could get any better, Kevin Pierce’s narration cranked it up another notch! This book is amazing. It’s non stop action all the way through. I can’t wait until the second book comes out!

Best character ever!

The Mad Mick: A Post-Apocalyptic Adventure was a great Read by Franklin Horton. Conor lost his wife and almost lost his three year old daughter to a drunk driver. The justice system did nothing for him so he took retaliation into his own hands. Devastating terror attacks brought down the United States and his daughter Barb was kidnapped. Connor, also known as “Mad Mick” made it his mission to find Barb with the help of Ragus. I enjoyed this post apocalyptic story.

I really enjoyed this Post-Apocalyptic story it has great character development with much action, revenge and how far a father would go to save his daughter. Only complaint I wanted it to continue. Conor (Mick), Barb his daughter and Regus are the main characters that I loved. Great narration and recommend to anyone who likes Post-Apocalyptic/Dystopian books. Recommend author’s other series such as The Borrow World. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review. THANK YOU

As with all of Franklin Horton's books, this one was amazing. Kevin Pierce's performance was equally fantastic.

Can't wait for more in the series!

Kevin Pierce's narration as always is spot on.

I decided I wanted to listen to this based on the Mad Mick's appearance in the Locker Nine Series. Still love Mick but it was Ragus who stole the show for me this time. The audacious boldness and perseverance of that young man was outstanding!! Barb is too abrasive for her own good. She reminds me of my maternal grandmother that I thought was too mean to ever die. Like Barb, she was beautiful, super hardworking, loyal to those she loved, but her tongue could cut diamonds off a mine wall. I already purchased the next book, but if the ungrateful way she treated Ragus is any indication, she's got a whole lot of growing up to do. A person can be bluntly honest without being deliberately mean-spirited. Still Ragus' storyline was enough to make it worth the time.

The Audacious Ragus

A worthy spinoff of The Borrowed World. I was going to wait on this series, but when The Borrowed World book #9 heavily involved the happenings of The Mad Mick between Book 8 and 9 (I've already read 8), I stopped reading 9 and picked up on this instead. I want to catch up before going back to the original. Having read about The Mad Mick in Book 1 of Locker Nine, I felt as if I'm already familiar with his character. While some readers may be annoyed at how the different series interact with one another (and how dependent Book 9 of the Borrowed World is on The Mad Mick), I personally love it. This world is a big one and I enjoy every minute of it. All series included.

More to this world
