About this listen

Next in the USA Today best-selling Regency romance series - a daring rescue, a disreputable reputation, and a dangerous road ahead.

Lady Charlotte Carpenter's brother-in-law has put an infamous brothel owner out of business - yet it is Charlotte who suffers the consequences. Abducted by thugs and held at an inn, she is plotting her escape when she's suddenly rescued by a dashing gentleman. Only afterward does she realize she's seen him before - with two courtesans! Unwilling to tarry with such a man, Charlotte makes her second escape. But it is too late to repair her reputation....

A known gossip has spied Charlotte's movements, and his report is speeding through the rumor mill. Soon, everyone knows that Charlotte spent the night with Constantine, Marquis of Kenilworth. And everyone agrees the only answer is marriage, including Constantine himself, his overjoyed mother - and his mistress! But Charlotte's abductors aren't finished with her yet. Now Constantine will do anything to protect the spirited woman he loves and win her heart....

Worth the listen

The story was good, if sometime a little long winded in the descriptions and explanations, the performance was good but sometimes hard to tell the women from the men.
Overall it was a good listen!

BEST of the series

Wow. Well my 1st reaction is that the story covered a LOT of ground. There was so many threads but they all come together telling a beautiful story about humanity, community and all the multifaceted sides of love. It is also, very funny at times and very romantic. Even though there is a great deal going on the love story is truly the main focus and the author never looses sight of that. Everything revolves around or flows from this couple. ... that is a bit different than the previous books. The other positive difference from the earlier books of the series is that this one has a better balance between the story telling and the steam sex scenes. Yes, the couple anticipated their marriage vows but it feels much more realistic and appropriate. Sex/ Lust, while present, does not dominate the relationship. Having forward fasted through much of the previous book honestly that was a welcome change. By the end of the book I was completely smitten with this couple and very satisfied with their HEA!
The narration was terrific.

Entertaining

The narrator was superb, the story line never had a full moment, the glow was perfect. I liked the fact that their wax t a lot of angst between the h/h. The steam level was a 3, could have been a little more engaging. Overall a solid book.

Not a fan

I like a story with substance and character background. And I like a more romantic and classy way of writing.
Hearing, “I’m going to f*** that p****” does nothing for me. Hearing over and over every “romantic moment” just ruins ant thread of a story this had. Plus, those “steamy” scenes didn’t even match up with the characters!
I’ll just stick with a more classy style of reading.
