About this listen

When Mase Winslow, the heir to a Civil War-era plantation, is forced to almost kill his best friend, a slave named Spoon, he unconsciously brings about the demise of his beloved home. As guilt and remorse overtake him, he seeks atonement through death on the battlefield.

With the help of an ordinary-looking stone given to him by Spoon’s mother, he is transported through time. When he realizes he can redeem himself by altering his actions, he suddenly has hope. The reality-bending journey that ensues takes him to present-day New York City and then back to Civil War-era South Carolina, requiring him to navigate a myriad of desperate challenges.

With more than a century of guilt weighing him down, he battles himself, Yankee troops, nature’s elements, and a nemesis that follows him through time. Set against an ominous ticking clock counting toward a deadly showdown that could cost him the love of his life, all odds are stacked against him.

What a ride this author takes you on!

Truly a talented author. His time travels takes you back to how life was during the civil war. You are holding your breath from the raw excitement of each event. Once you think you’ve rebounded, heck no! The journey whacks your brain again in “OMGs” that didn’t just happen! His characters are Devine. The message in this book truly depicts how each path you choose to take in life determines the outcomes of your future and for the ones you love. I can’t wait for book two on audible!

Good Time Travel Story

The narrator was not that great at voices. Some voices were like nails on a blackboard or he talked through his nose. If I were to get the next book it won’t be an audio.

If we only knew the future

Amazing twist and turns. What if we knew the future? Would we use it to benefit ourselves and others? Not realistic but a very interesting read.

Great read/audio book

This book kept me engaged through the entire story. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a bit of time travel and parallel storylines.

This was a very enjoyable story

This was a very enjoyable story with lots of twists, and turns. The ending pulled it all together very nicely in a somewhat unexpected way. I found the moral of the story to be nicely spelled out and quite true.

It had possibilities...

The narration ruined the story. The over-the- top accents and falsetto's were painfully bad that made the book sound silly.
Author needs a lesson in fire accelerations. Gasoline fumes are just as flammable as the gas itself. A cigar or open lighter flame would have ignited a conflagration in the pit with the dripping gas instantly in chapter 28. Diesel fuel might have been more plausible, as it doesn't have flammable fumes. But that was the last "bit" that made me give up on the book. Why write a book if no one is going to correct the many continuity errors and just bad writing?
Two hours left in the book and I just couldn't listen to any more.
