About this listen

In this action-packed thriller from the New York Times bestselling author of The Midwife Murders, a mother-to-be sees the women in her social circle start to disappear—and she could be next . . .

Emily Atkinson leads a complicated life in New York City. She’s a successful marketing executive who lives in a luxury apartment and enjoys a glamorous existence until she lands in the hospital with a double diagnosis: she parties too much—and she’s pregnant. Her nurse and new best friend, Betsey, helps Emily rediscover how much she loves morning runs in the park and quiet nights at home. But as a series of women in her wealthy social circles go missing, Emily’s pregnancy becomes decidedly high-risk.

I spent a credit on this book just because of the James Patterson name.
I stuck with it in spite of the difficulty of being able to know who was speaking at many times. Then added to that was jumping from past, current and Emily’s diary; hard to keep it straight “where we were”.
I’m a ‘rude or die’ Patterson fan but I’m not happy with this book. The ending stinks, it felt like there were things unfinished.
I cannot recommend this book. 😞

I’m felling kind of cheated

Not up to Patterson quality - very long and Whitney and predictable. I would not recommend this book.

When this book started, I thought I would not be able to listen to it, but thank goodness I did! Excellent story and performance. Totally invested in the characters!

Worthwhile read

This isn’t the best Patterson book I’ve ever read, but I enjoyed it overall. The story was compelling enough to keep me interested and the narrator did a good job.

Pretty good

The ending was a little disappointing. I needed a little more information about Oscar and Ted

Short ending

Story was good. I had a hard time with the narrators voice. I’m less than a hour into the book and don’t think I can finish it.

Hard to listen to.

The story was long winded. The performance was good. I couldn't tell the actors apart. If I had read the book I wouldn't have finished it.

This book was beautiful right up to the end. Going through delivery with Betsy was amazing and Emily was a rockstar!
I recommend this book to everyone.

Another good read by Patterson! The narration was fabulous too! I didn’t see the ending coming, loved it.

Another great read by Patterson!!

Love this story line, and especially the delivery of Amy in the bathtub. That was great planning. However, the dealing with Emily’s “imagination” vs was it really happening got a little old by the end of the story. I wish there was a little more at the end of the story to tell how it ended up with the big crash of the ambulance and the post delivery of her baby.
Great story. I would recommend it for sure.
