Publisher's summary

“You can’t help but fall in love with Lynsay Sands!” (Christina Dodd)

A most-willing beauty wants to be the perfect wife - with everything that entails - to her brave and handsome new groom, but an outrageous series of mishaps seems to get in their way. Fear not, though, for true love will always prevail in New York Times and USA Today best seller Lynsay Sands’ wicked historical romance romps.

Carrying her listeners back to Medieval England - centuries before the contemporary romantic affairs of her popular Argeneau vampire family - Lynsay Sands will enchant fans of Julia Quinn and Sabrina Jeffries with this classic tale rich in humor and passion.

Plot

Absolutely love Stories by Lynsay Sands. Her plots and characters are so thoughtful out that they pull you into the story where while reading you're watching it play out in your mind.

Different era for Lynsay Sands - good!

Author, Lynsay Sands, usually writes in the Edwardian or Victorian era, but this story takes place in England in the 1200's, shortly after the Crusades. The people, and especially the women, have much harder restrictions to their actions. They aren't always imposed by males, but by the timely dictates of society then. Lynsay Sands books are very funny, and this one is no exception! But this book is also a mystery! It's a very intriguing book, and I did not know the "villain" until much later in the book. It's a good story, and I thoroughly enjoyed it! And I must say that the narrator, Justine Eyre, is very good with male voices! She is also good with female voices, but sometimes women narrators do not speak male voices very well. This is NOT the case with Justine Eyre. A good book about not worrying about what other's say, and learning to have confidence in oneself. I loved it!

Sweet historical romance

The protagonists are both quirky. He speaks very little, has too much pride and doesn’t always think about the best way to do things in order to get what he wants. She is beautiful even though she’s a little plump. Her cousin’s beat down her self esteem by calling her bad names because of her weight. She doesn’t always try to defend herself to others. Both newlyweds neglected to share their information on their problems nearly getting her killed. At the end they both figure this out and admit that they are in love.

So funny😆

This would make a great tv series. All of the characters are fleshed out.
I love d the campaign to improve the FMC's self esteem!
The narrator was easy to listen to and you could always tell when she changed characters.

What a great read!

This was fantastic from start to finish! I’ve listened to it twice in a month, that’s how delightful it is. Laugh out loud funny, sweet, mystery, and an hea! Definitely worth a credit and a listen!

Boring

Not funny. Stupid instead. I got bored and marked it finished at chapter 9. Performance was good.

one debacle after another.

Not much of a connection with wife and husband. Just waiting for the next accident and they did not really spend much time together

Predictable and slow

From other reviews, I was expecting so much more from this book. It took forever to get through scenes. I wasn’t fond of the narrator’s male voice. It made him sound too simple-minded.
