Lindsey Sands never fails

As with most of her books, the heroine in the hero always end up together, but in this particular book, I very much love the way that they brought her father into it.
I was also quite pleased that the book and live without the father actually passing

Callum and Zara

*****SPOILER ALERT*****

Audible Premium Plus borrow. Dual POV. Standalone. Vampire/maiden-in-distress romance. Ruth Urquhart's accents were clear and easy to understand. Content warnings: attempted r@pe; a fight; h's father is dying; vampire/bl00d sucking.

**I am uncertain of the correct spelling of the main characters' names. My apologies if they are misspelled.

Zara and her dying father are the last of her family after her twin and her mom died from a fever. Zara takes time daily for herself away from her home and ailling father to bathe. One day while away from the safety of her home men try to take Zara to a neighboring Lord who wants to wed her to gain control of her family's land. While on an errand for his uncle, Callum chose to rest in a cave when he is startled awake by a noise only to find Zara bathing. He comes to her rescue when 4 men try to take her, but he is wounded in the fight. Callum and Zara narrowly escape through a cave and secret entrance to her home. Zara and her staff help Callum to bed where she stitches his wounds by candlelight because he is sensitive to sunlight. Her father and Callum spend the night talking about Zara. The next day, Callum takes Zara to bathe before daybreak and they are once again forced to use the cave and dungeon entrance to escape the men trying to abduct Zara. They discover that her father's head servant has betrayed Zara so Callum shackles him in a cell. Callum leaves to complete his uncle's errand and on his way home Black/Pretty Boy, his horse, takes him back to Zara's home where men are readying to attack and abduct Zara. Callum once again enters Zara's property through the cave and dungeon entrance to alert her of the impending threat. Zara's father asks Callum to marry Zara to keep her safe, but Callum doesn't believe she'll want him since he's a vampire. Zara agrees to marry him and when they head off to their room Zara alleviates Callum's concerns by telling him she knows he's a vampire because he healed so quickly, is averse to sunlight exposure, and what the traveling menstrel said about Callum's twin. Zara reveals that she's related to the king. The two consummate their marriage and Callum bites Zara. JP

Great

Not like your usual vampire story. But at least this one ends with a happy ending.

Sappy even for a Romance Novel

Story was okay. I think it kind of weirded me out that he wasn’t a regular highlander. I especially like the ridiculousness of Sarah’s clumsiness and animal interactions. Gave me a good laugh. Narrator bugged me a little with how she pronounced or over emphasized the way she read it, but thats just preference.

Disappointing

Liked the opening scene, had me laughing out loud at Sara saving the MC. Was disappointed in the MC for a vampire he seemed pretty weak and rarely ever took charge. I did like the horse “Pretty Boy” and thought that was sweet.
