About this listen

Do I have feelings for my sister's best friend? Of course not.

That would be stupid, considering my sister once threatened to castrate me if I ever hurt Val. Hurting her is the last thing I want to do, which is all the more reason I can't have feelings for her. Val deserves the world, and I'm not the man who can give it to her.

When Val announces she's leaving town (and the country), I'm suddenly confronted with some very capital-F Feelings—ones that refuse to stay stuffed down deep where I've hidden them for more years than I care to admit.

Having her crash in my guest bedroom until she leaves only makes things worse. Little by little, Val chips away at my defenses, and despite all the solid reasons I have, my resolve starts to crumble.

The thing is—none of the circumstances have changed. Val is still planning to leave the country. And I... well, I might have gotten more in touch with my feelings, but I'm still the same man. Not a man who can promise things like life-long commitment. Not a man Val can count on. Not the good guy everyone seems to think I am.

If only I could get Val and the rest of this nosy, meddling matchmaking town to believe me—and if my own stubborn heart wasn't trying to convince me otherwise.

The Pocket Pair is a best friend's brother, friends to more rom-com set in the fictional small town of Sheet Cake, Texas. You'll find plenty of laughs and sizzling chemistry in this closed-door romantic comedy. It's the third in a series, but can be enjoyed as a standalone.

Val’s inner dialogue had me cracking up through this whole book. Can’t get enough of all the Sheet Cakers. Looking forward to Collins story.

Unrequited love, best friend’s brother. He thinks he’s not good enough sweet and snarky and the banter of so many laugh out the moments a wonderful fun read it’s clean but got all the feels.

Love the mental banter between these two

The couple is cute and their story too, but the last third of the book I think it was a stretch.
One day Chevy pulls the switch and wants a break? Seemed a little weird.

Cute story

She’s is little sister’s best friend. He’s a police officer in Sweet Cake and he refuses relationships because his dad betrayed a lifetime of trust. This is a great addition to the Sweet Cake Texas series.

Friends to more. Sweet Cake

This is a great “best friend’s brother” love story! Fantastically narrated. LOVED the chemistry between Chevy and Val.

The narration is top notch!

My reasons for giving this story 3.5-4 star review are not because the story telling was bad, it was quite nice. My number of stars has more to do with my preferences. Bit of a spoiler ahead;

Stories that have a long will they, won't they, through out the story for the couple to finally come together, but it only lasts a very short time, really rankle me, specially if they will be separated longer then they're together. It has a nice HEA, but the story focuses more on their issues and not on how their relationship develops as they're together. You're kinda left wanting.

Good story telling

I loved the first 2 books in this series, I even bought additional credits so I could listen to this book asap, but I had to return it because every 4th word is a breathy whisper and I could not hear most of what she was saying. She would go from being really loud to suddenly whispering. pretty much constantly, which completed took me out if the story. I imagine it would be better if you listened with headphones? I am super bummed about it. the story was great though, from what I could hear.

DNF
