About this listen

In a terrible accident, Rachel Yoder lost her husband, her son, and her unborn child. Now, Rachel leads a reclusive life with her young daughter. Her soul is troubled, and her eye-sight has mysteriously dimmed. But the discovery of an old postcard, hidden for years, is about to change Rachel's world.

Filled with vivid scenes of Amish life, The Postcard is a heart-warming and thought-provoking examination of the powers of faith and healing. Narrator Barbara Caruso's performance brings a gentleness and warmth to this moving story.

Fantastic

Truly enjoyed the book! I lived it through her words. I can't wait for the next book.

The Story of 2 people sharing one faith.

I had a difficult time not listening this straight thru.
For me its a faith builder.
A romance for sure.
More in ones spirit than the flesh.
Id like one more book finishing the story of Philip his family visiting in that fall.

Performance Review of the Postcard

What made the experience of listening to The Postcard the most enjoyable?

I'm a big fan of Beverly Lewis and her writings and recently decided to reread some of the older series. By reread I mean listen to while I'm at work. Ms. Caruso had a nice voice- however when there was a transition into the next chapter I felt like it was rushed and wonder if I'm missing part of the story-line. It seemed that she would be reading the end of the chapter and right in the middle announced the next chapter. I'm not sure if it's a performance issue or lack of editing because there was also an area where she seemed to have stumbled over her words. Hoping The Crossroads is better!

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Postcard?

Hearing the story of Gabriel Esh. (Sp?)

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Barbara Caruso?

Beverly Lewis herself!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

It took me 2 work days.

Narrator

The breaks between chapters was disturbingly abrupt. A few seconds pause would be more settling to listener.

I loved it!

This book caught my interest right from the start. Good story line, a little predictable, but very enjoyable. The narrator did a supurb job with this one.

Wonderful Novel

The mystery and love in the story held my attention. I did enjoy the narrator, however, when she read softly at the appropriate times, I would have to increase the volume only to lower it soon after.
What a wonderful story, though! I’m looking forward to reading or hearing the sequel.

MASTERPIECE

What a fabulous story! This is one to treasure. I will definitely be listening to this again. Beverley Lewis really outdid herself with this one. And Barbara Caruso brings a richness and quality to all she narrates that can be unmatched. You won’t be disappointed.

Narrator

The narrator had very good intonation, but the inconsistent volume on nearly every sentence made it very frustrating trying to make out the virtual whispers when the volume became subdued. She is an excellent reader though. The beginning of the sentences were well enunciated and loud enough, but by the end of the sentence it was muffled and mumbly.
